Silent Hill 2 (2024) has six weapons to find across its standard story and New Game+: five are available during a regular playthrough, while the Chainsaw is exclusive to New Game+. Two melee weapons arrive automatically through story scenes; the Handgun, Shotgun, and Hunting Rifle must be picked up in specific rooms.

Handgun — Wood Side Apartments, Room 217
Look inside Room 217 for a red shopping cart. The Handgun is in the cart, so make sure to search the room rather than relying on a story award.
Steel Pipe — Katz Street, western South Vale
The Steel Pipe is handed to James in a story cutscene on Katz Street. It replaces the Wooden Plank as his melee weapon.

Shotgun — Brookhaven Hospital, second-floor Women’s Locker Room
Search the Women’s Locker Room on the hospital’s second floor and take the Shotgun from the open locker. It is a room pickup, not an automatic addition to your inventory.
Hunting Rifle — Toluca Prison, Armory
The Hunting Rifle is inside a locked cabinet in the prison Armory. You need the Armory Key to open it and collect the weapon.
New Game+ weapon
Chainsaw — Silent Hill Ranch
In New Game+, check the pile of logs opposite the Silent Hill Ranch sign. The Chainsaw is embedded in the logs. It is not available in a standard first playthrough.
Pickups that are easy to overlook
The Wooden Plank and Steel Pipe come through story scenes, but the Handgun, Shotgun, and Hunting Rifle are found by searching their locations. Check Room 217, the hospital locker room, and the prison Armory when you reach them; optional room weapons can be missed as you progress. The Chainsaw is the separate New Game+ pickup.

Which weapons are not on the remake’s list?
The Great Knife and Hyper Spray are associated with the original Silent Hill 2; they should not be counted as ordinary obtainable weapons in the 2024 remake. For the remake, the six-item list above includes its New Game+ Chainsaw.
