What the former artist reportedly said about GTA 6
Unanswered.io’s July 12, 2026 guide says a former Rockstar artist described active work on GTA 6 from 2018 through 2023. The guide cites other outlets, including Game Rant and XDA, but the original Game Rant report, any interview or post by the artist, and the artist’s name were not available in the captured material. The account is therefore a secondary report, not a directly verified statement from the artist or Rockstar.

That distinction matters: the reported dates cover one former employee’s work on the project. They do not, by themselves, establish when Rockstar as a studio began the game, when every department joined, or how long development lasted overall. The guide describes three different milestones. They may refer to different stages or scopes of work, so they should not be collapsed into one definitive start date.

“Preliminary work,” “principal production” and an individual artist’s contribution are not interchangeable labels. Early planning can precede full production, and one employee’s involvement can begin after a project has already started. The available account does not define the studio’s terms or establish a complete internal timeline, so it cannot settle a single, official development-start date.
Did GTA 6 development start right after GTA 5?
GTA V was released in 2013, according to the same guide. That gives context for the long gap between numbered entries, but a release gap is not the same as development duration. The reported preliminary-work date of 2014 would place some work after GTA V’s release, while the guide’s other milestones describe later phases or an individual’s involvement. None of those dates is independently confirmed by the captured sources.

It is therefore not supported to say that GTA 6 definitively began development in 2014, 2018 or 2020 on the basis of this report alone. The most precise answer is that a secondary guide attributes a 2018–2023 active-work period to a former artist, while separately reporting 2014 preliminary work and 2020 principal production.
What the Take-Two timeline claim does—and doesn’t—confirm
A Gagadget archive entry dated May 16, 2025 paraphrases a Take-Two claim that GTA 6 had been in production for at least five years. The archive passage does not provide the underlying company statement, and it should not be treated as a direct Take-Two quotation or used to calculate a specific start year. The May 2025 archive entry is a secondary summary; without the original filing, earnings-call transcript or announcement, its wording and context remain unverified.

Has GTA 6’s release date changed?
Unanswered.io’s guide describes an initial Fall 2025 window followed by dates of May 26, 2026 and November 19, 2026. Those are release-scheduling claims reported by a secondary source; the captured material does not include the underlying official announcements. Check Rockstar’s official channels for the current release date rather than treating this timeline as confirmation.
