There is no official native Android or iOS version of Factorio as of August 18, 2026. You can still play the PC version on an Android phone, iPhone, or tablet by streaming it from a Windows, macOS, or Linux computer with Steam Link. If you want Factorio to run locally on a portable device without a host PC, the official Nintendo Switch edition or a compatible PC handheld is the better option.
Is Factorio officially available on mobile?
No. Wube’s current supported-platform information lists Windows, macOS, Linux, and Nintendo Switch, but not Android, iOS, or iPadOS. The official purchase page and download page likewise do not offer an Android or iPhone build.
That means it is important to distinguish four different things:
- Native mobile app: an Android or iOS build installed and run directly on the device. This is not officially available.
- Steam Link streaming: the game runs on your computer while your mobile device displays it and sends back your controls.
- Unofficial compatibility methods: community experiments using Linux environments, emulation, or compatibility layers. These are not supported mobile releases.
- Portable editions: the official Nintendo Switch version and PC handhelds, which are neither Android nor iOS ports.
The official website displayed stable version 2.0.77 and experimental version 2.1.12 in the supplied August 2026 research, but version labels can change. Check the official homepage before relying on those numbers.

Why old “Factorio mobile” reports can be misleading
Wube published an Android prototype in a 2016 April Fools’ post. The article identified the project as an April Fools’ contribution, not a commercial Android release.
Wube later described its mobile efforts in Friday Facts #370. The attempts did not reach a properly running, playable phone release, and touch-screen controls were a major obstacle. That history explains why a screenshot, video, or old article about Factorio on Android should not be treated as evidence of an official app. It also does not prove that Wube can never release one in the future.
How to play Factorio on Android or iPhone with Steam Link
Steam Link is the practical workaround if you already have a computer capable of running the game. Steam’s Remote Play documentation supports streaming games to phones and tablets and allows custom touch-controller layouts.

Host computer
- A Windows, macOS, or Linux computer
- Steam installed, open, and signed in
- Factorio installed in the Steam library
- The computer powered on and able to run the game
Mobile device
- An Android phone or tablet, or an iPhone or iPad
- The Steam Link app
- A reliable local network or suitable internet connection
- Optional Bluetooth or USB controller
- Optional keyboard and mouse, particularly useful with a tablet
Setup steps
- Install Factorio through Steam on the host computer.
- Open Steam on that computer and sign in.
- Install and open Steam Link on the mobile device.
- Follow Steam Link’s pairing process and select the computer running Steam.
- Enter the pairing PIN on the host computer if Steam requests one.
- Run Steam Link’s connection test.
- Start Factorio from the Steam Link library.
- Open the in-session controls menu and adjust the touch layout, or connect a controller.
- Save a custom control profile if the default arrangement is uncomfortable.
Steam Link is not installing Factorio on the phone. The computer performs the simulation and rendering; the mobile device receives the video and sends touch, keyboard, mouse, or controller input back to the host.
Does Steam Link work well with Factorio?
Steam lists Factorio with Remote Play on Tablet, but the supplied Steam listing does not show Remote Play on Phone. Steam’s technical documentation does support streaming to both phones and tablets, so phone streaming is possible, but the store label should not be read as a guarantee of a phone-optimized touch interface.

A tablet is generally the more usable target because Factorio’s interface contains small controls, nested menus, inventories, production statistics, blueprints, and dense factory layouts. A phone can work for checking a factory or making short sessions, but extended play is more cramped.
Touch controls: what to expect
Factorio was designed primarily around a mouse, keyboard, and information-dense desktop interface. Steam Link lets you move, resize, and save touch controls, but customization cannot remove the underlying precision problem.
Touch input is likely to feel awkward when you are:
- Selecting small entities
- Dragging belts and pipes accurately
- Rotating buildings
- Managing inventories and nested menus
- Editing blueprints
- Scheduling trains
- Reading production statistics on a small screen
- Using keyboard shortcuts or configuring mods
- Moving precisely during combat
The most practical setups are:
- Tablet plus Bluetooth mouse and keyboard: closest to the PC experience.
- Tablet or phone plus Bluetooth controller: more portable, but requires learning a different control scheme.
- Phone with touch controls only: easiest to try and least comfortable for long sessions.
- PC handheld: self-contained portable play with buttons, touch input, and sometimes trackpads, but still a compromise compared with a desktop mouse and keyboard.
Controller behavior can vary between the mobile device, Steam Link, Steam Input, and the game. A controller may improve navigation and movement, but a mouse remains more efficient for cursor placement, blueprint work, inventories, and many management tasks.

Network requirements and remote play
For home streaming, connect the host computer to the router by Ethernet when possible. Connect the phone or tablet to a strong 5-GHz Wi-Fi network where available. A weak or congested connection can cause input delay, blurry video, stuttering, audio dropouts, and disconnections.

Steam Remote Play can also work away from home, but internet streaming is more sensitive to latency, routing, firewall settings, and the host computer’s upload connection. Local streaming is usually the simplest and most reliable place to start.
Steam Link cannot provide offline mobile play. If the host computer is asleep, switched off, disconnected, or unreachable, there is no streamed game session. A direct PC installation from Factorio’s website has different offline behavior, but it still does not create a native phone client.
Steam Link troubleshooting
Steam Link cannot find the computer
- Make sure the computer is awake rather than asleep.
- Confirm Steam is open and logged in.
- Launch Factorio locally on the computer to verify the installation.
- Restart Steam Link and Steam.
- Re-pair the mobile device.
- Check firewall and router settings.
- Test on the same local network before diagnosing remote access.
The video is blurry or stutters
- Prefer Ethernet for the host computer.
- Move the mobile device to a stronger 5-GHz Wi-Fi signal.
- Stop other high-bandwidth activity.
- Lower streaming resolution or quality.
- Test locally before attempting to stream over the internet.
Touch controls are difficult
Open Steam Link’s in-session controls menu and move, resize, or remove controls that interfere with the game. Save a custom profile. If precision remains poor, try a Bluetooth controller; for a tablet, a mouse and keyboard are usually the better upgrade.
The controller does not behave correctly
Confirm that the controller is paired with the mobile device and recognized by Steam Link. Check Steam Input settings and test the controller in another streamed game. Compatibility is not identical across every Android device, iPhone, controller, and Steam Input configuration.
What about unofficial native Android methods?
There may be community attempts to launch the PC version through Linux-on-Android environments, emulation, or compatibility layers. These should be treated as technical experiments, not supported installations.

Results can vary with the phone’s chipset, Android version, graphics driver, thermal limits, RAM, and compatibility layer. Mods, multiplayer, save handling, updates, and expansions may also behave inconsistently. The official download page provides desktop downloads and a headless Linux server package, not an Android or iOS build.
Be especially cautious with “Factorio APK” listings. An app-store result may be a different factory-building game, a remote-play utility, an unofficial client, a clone, or a scam. Verify that the publisher is Wube Software and that the listing is linked from an official Factorio channel.
Space Age, mods, saves, and multiplayer
With Steam Link, the host computer runs the PC version. If the Steam account owns Factorio: Space Age and the host installation supports it, the expansion can be streamed to the mobile device. That does not mean an Android or iOS Space Age app exists.
Steam’s listing advertises Steam Cloud and multiplayer. In a streamed session, save behavior follows the host installation and Steam account. Exact compatibility across Steam, the direct website version, GOG, Humble, Nintendo Switch, different game versions, mods, Space Age ownership, and experimental branches should not be assumed. Better portable alternatives
Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch is an official Factorio platform listed by Wube. It runs locally on the console, so it does not require a powered-on PC or a streaming connection. It is the strongest official alternative for someone who wants genuinely portable play without a phone workaround.

It is still a console edition, not an Android or iOS app, and it uses console controls rather than the traditional mouse-and-keyboard setup. A Steam purchase should not be assumed to include a Switch copy; the editions are separate purchase channels.
PC handhelds
PC handhelds can run the PC game locally and may offer buttons, touch input, trackpads, or other controls. They are often a better fit for Factorio than a phone, but the interface remains more comfortable with a full mouse and keyboard. Compatibility, battery life, performance, and controls vary by device, so check the current status of any specific model before buying.
Laptop or desktop
If you want the least compromised Factorio experience, use a laptop or desktop with a mouse and keyboard. It avoids streaming latency and gives the game’s interface the space and precision it was designed around.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Factorio free on mobile?
There is no official mobile edition to download. The official PC version has a free desktop demo, but Steam Link does not turn that into a free native phone game.
Can I play Factorio on mobile without a PC?
Not through the official Android or iOS options. Steam Link requires a host computer running Steam and Factorio.
Can I play Factorio offline on my phone?
Not with Steam Link, because the phone must reach the host computer. Native offline phone play is unavailable through an official Android or iOS build.
Will Wube release a mobile version?
Wube has documented past mobile experiments and their technical and touch-control difficulties, but that is not a permanent statement about future plans. No official Android or iOS release is listed as of August 18, 2026.
