Fallout Season 2 is already out. The eight-episode season premiered in the United States on December 16, 2025, and its finale arrived on February 3, 2026. All episodes are now streaming exclusively on Prime Video as of August 10, 2026.
The season continues Lucy MacLean and the Ghoul’s journey into the Mojave Wasteland and New Vegas, while expanding the stories of Maximus, the Brotherhood of Steel, Vault-Tec, Cooper Howard, Robert House and Caesar’s Legion. It draws heavily on Fallout: New Vegas, but it is not a direct adaptation of that game.

When did Fallout Season 2 come out?
Fallout Season 2 premiered in the United States on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Prime Video originally announced a December 17 launch, but moved the U.S. release forward by one day. The first episode became available at 6 p.m. Pacific time/9 p.m. Eastern time.

That change explains why some older articles and international listings still show December 17. Viewers in some countries reached the episode after midnight local time, making December 17 the calendar date in those regions. The same issue affected the finale: the U.S. date was February 3, while some territories listed February 4.
Unlike Season 1, which launched as a complete batch, Season 2 followed a weekly schedule with a couple of timing exceptions. All eight episodes are now available.

Episodes 7 and 8 were made available six hours earlier than the regular release time, at the same U.S. evening time used for the premiere. As a result, international services may show January 28 for Episode 7 or February 4 for the finale depending on the viewer’s location. The dates above are the U.S. schedule reported by TV Guide and the updated Prime Video release information.
Where can you watch Fallout Season 2?
Season 2 streams exclusively on Prime Video. The service currently carries all episodes of both Fallout seasons, so viewers can watch Season 1 before starting the new story or go straight into the Mojave storyline if they already know the first season.

Prime Video availability, subscription options, advertising tiers, prices, subtitles and audio languages can vary by country. In the United States, Amazon’s current guide lists Prime at $14.99 per month or $139 per year, but those prices should not be treated as universal worldwide pricing and may change.
What is Fallout Season 2 about?
Spoiler-light synopsis
Season 2 begins after the events of the first season and sends Lucy MacLean and the Ghoul across the Mojave in pursuit of Hank MacLean. Their uneasy, transactional alliance remains at the heart of the story as Lucy’s moral outlook collides with the Ghoul’s centuries of survival and violence.
Maximus, meanwhile, is drawn further into the Brotherhood of Steel’s hierarchy and politics. The season also spends more time in the pre-war period, developing Cooper Howard, his wife Barb Howard and the Vault-Tec forces connected to the nuclear apocalypse.
The official synopsis describes the season as a journey through the Mojave Wasteland to New Vegas. That location is more than a change of scenery: the show introduces its own live-action version of the game’s famous city and brings Robert House, the Lucky 38, Caesar’s Legion and Deathclaws into the television continuity.

- Lucy and the Ghoul’s road trip: The pair continue travelling together, even though their goals and methods remain sharply opposed.
- Hank’s history: Lucy’s pursuit of her father is one of the season’s main narrative engines, and his relationship to Vault-Tec’s past receives further attention.
- New Vegas: The season brings the story to the Mojave’s most recognizable location, including the Lucky 38 and Robert House.
- Robert House: The pre-war industrialist and New Vegas power broker becomes substantially more important after being briefly teased in Season 1.
- The Brotherhood of Steel: Maximus’s position and relationship with the Brotherhood become more politically complicated.
- Caesar’s Legion: The faction receives a prominent storyline in the season.
- Pre-war flashbacks: Cooper Howard and Barb Howard’s lives before the bombs receive more screen time.
- Vault-Tec’s conspiracy: The show continues examining the corporate and ideological forces behind the apocalypse.

Returning cast does not mean that every performer appears in every episode or has the same amount of screen time. Some characters return through flashbacks, brief appearances or supporting storylines.

The returning supporting players include Leslie Uggams as Betty Pearson, Dave Register as Chet, Annabel O’Hagan as Stephanie “Steph” Harper, Zach Cherry as Woody Thomas, Rodrigo Luzzi as Reg McPhee, Johnny Pemberton as Thaddeus and Xelia Mendes-Jones as Dane.

Michael Esper also returns as Bud Askins, the Vault-Tec executive whose consciousness is housed in a brain mounted on a Roomba. Michael Emerson returns as Siggi Wilzig, while Sarita Choudhury appears in material connected to Lee Moldaver and Kate Williams. Michael Cristofer is also part of the Brotherhood storyline as Elder Cleric Quintus.

Some early coverage correctly described Culkin’s and Nanjiani’s roles as undisclosed because their identities had not yet been announced. That wording is now outdated: Culkin plays Lacerta Legate, while current credits identify Nanjiani as Paladin Xander Harkness.
How Season 2 connects to Fallout: New Vegas
Season 2 is not a television adaptation of Fallout: New Vegas. It uses the game’s setting and several of its recognizable elements, but it follows original protagonists and an original television storyline.
The shared material includes the Mojave Wasteland, New Vegas, the Lucky 38, Robert House, Caesar’s Legion, Deathclaws and the political tensions associated with the region. The show’s Lucy, Maximus, the Ghoul, Hank and Vault-Tec storyline belong to the television continuity rather than being replacements for the game’s Courier and branching quest structure.
The creators have described the series as an original story within the wider Fallout universe rather than a retelling of a particular game. The most accurate description is therefore: Season 2 draws heavily from Fallout: New Vegas while continuing the show’s own story.
Does Season 2 make one New Vegas ending canon?
This remains a question that needs careful wording. Fallout: New Vegas allows players to choose among several major outcomes, including the House, NCR, Caesar’s Legion and independent endings. Before Season 2 aired, the creators said they wanted to avoid simply declaring one player-selected ending to be the definitive canon.

However, that fact alone does not prove that the House ending, NCR ending, Legion ending or independent ending occurred exactly as a particular fan theory suggests. The show’s later continuity and the game’s branching choices should be kept separate.
In other words, Season 2 establishes the show’s version of what happened next in the Mojave, but it should not be described as a straightforward confirmation that one New Vegas ending is canon unless a specific scene or official statement supports that interpretation.

Official teaser
Prime Video released the first official teaser on August 19, 2025. It confirmed the December launch window and emphasized the move from the first season’s California locations into the Mojave and New Vegas.

Official full trailer
The full trailer arrived on November 13, 2025. It revealed Justin Theroux as Robert House and showed New Vegas, a Deathclaw, Caesar’s Legion imagery, Brotherhood conflict, and footage of Culkin’s and Nanjiani’s characters.

As with any television trailer, those shots are promotional evidence rather than a complete plot summary. Some scenes were presented without context, and trailer editing can make events appear to happen in a different order from the finished episodes.

Prime Video also released a New Vegas behind-the-scenes featurette, along with additional episode-specific material. These official videos are more reliable for identifying confirmed production elements than fan-edited trailer compilations or social-media theories.

Who created and produced Season 2?
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner remain the creators and showrunners. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy executive-produce through Kilter Films, with Todd Howard and James Altman representing Bethesda’s executive-production involvement.
The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Kilter Films in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks. The listed Season 2 directors include Frederick E. O. Toye, Liz Friedlander, Stephen Williams and Lisa Joy.
Production scale and filming
California approved the production under the working title Fallout 2+. The California Film Commission’s production-program figures list:
- 88 California filming days
- 20 cast hires
- 150 crew hires
- 3,385 background-player days
- $153.68 million in qualified California expenditures
- A $25 million tax-credit allocation
Those are California production-program figures, not a complete worldwide budget or a definitive total for every filming location and production day.

Their partnership remains deliberately unstable: Lucy brings the ethical framework she developed in the vaults, while the Ghoul brings the brutal pragmatism of a bounty hunter who has survived the wasteland for centuries.
Hank’s history remains one of the season’s major points of attention. The show continues linking his story to Vault-Tec and to the pre-war decisions that shaped the post-apocalyptic world. The pre-war material also expands the relationship between Cooper Howard and Barb Howard, making the corporate and ideological roots of the apocalypse a larger part of the season rather than a secondary mystery.

Robert House moves from a briefly teased presence into a substantial New Vegas character. Justin Theroux’s casting makes the show’s connection to the game especially clear, but House’s presence does not turn the series into a retelling of the Courier’s campaign.
The Brotherhood storyline becomes more politically involved as Maximus is pulled deeper into the organization. The season also identifies Kumail Nanjiani’s character as Paladin Xander Harkness and places Michael Cristofer’s Elder Cleric Quintus in a leadership role. In parallel, Caesar’s Legion receives a prominent storyline, with Macaulay Culkin playing Lacerta Legate.

These additions are important because they establish the show’s version of the region, but they do not by themselves settle every question about the game’s branching history.
What the finale does—and does not—settle about New Vegas
The completed season leaves the television continuity with a New Vegas that exists after the game’s events and has changed as a result. That is the confirmed connection. It is not accurate to reduce the finale to “the show chose the House ending” or to declare that the NCR, Legion or independent ending has been definitively selected without distinguishing interpretation from established fact.
The show can borrow locations, factions and characters while preserving the idea that the player’s exact ending is not being retroactively overwritten. Fans may continue to read the condition of New Vegas as evidence for one outcome, but those readings should be labeled interpretations rather than presented as an unqualified canon statement.
How quickly was Fallout renewed?
Amazon renewed Fallout for Season 2 on April 18, 2024, only days after Season 1 debuted globally on April 10. At the time, Amazon said the first season was already among Prime Video’s three most-watched titles.
The production timeline then developed in stages:
- April 10, 2024: Season 1 debuted globally on Prime Video.
- April 18, 2024: Amazon announced the Season 2 renewal.
- May 12, 2025: Amazon announced the December 2025 release window and renewed the series for Season 3.
- August 19, 2025: The first official Season 2 teaser and New Vegas material were released.
- November 13, 2025: The full trailer arrived.
- December 16, 2025: Season 2 premiered in the United States.
- January 27, 2026: Episode 7 was released in the United States.
- February 3, 2026: Episode 8 and the Season 2 finale were released in the United States.
- August 10, 2026: All eight episodes remained available, with Season 3 still lacking a release date.
What comes after Season 2?
Fallout has been renewed for Season 3. Amazon’s current guide says filming began in Los Angeles in June 2026, but the company has not announced a Season 3 premiere date as of August 10, 2026.
Announced Season 3 additions include:
- Aaron Paul
- Emily Mortimer
- Manny Jacinto
- Thomasin McKenzie
Their roles have not been disclosed. Annabel O’Hagan and Dave Register have been promoted to series regulars for Season 3.
These are Season 3 developments, not Season 2 cast information. In particular, older speculation about Aaron Paul possibly appearing in Season 2 should not be carried forward: Amazon identifies him as a Season 3 addition.
Why older Fallout Season 2 articles may show different information
Pre-release coverage combined information from several different points in time. The most common outdated claims are:
- December 17, 2025: This was the original announced date or the local date in some international markets. The U.S. premiere moved to December 16.
- February 4, 2026: This is the local date shown in some territories. The U.S. finale became available on February 3.
- Unknown Culkin role: Macaulay Culkin’s character was undisclosed before release; the completed season identifies him as Lacerta Legate.
- Unknown Nanjiani role: Current credits identify Kumail Nanjiani as Paladin Xander Harkness.
- Possible Aaron Paul Season 2 appearance: Paul is officially associated with Season 3, not Season 2.
- Season 2 is still filming or upcoming: That language is obsolete now that all eight episodes have been released.
The most reliable way to read the current status is to separate official announcements, trailer reveals, completed-season credits and fan speculation instead of treating every pre-release article as current.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Fallout Season 2 is complete and streaming on Prime Video, with all eight episodes available. It takes Lucy, the Ghoul and Maximus into a live-action Mojave and New Vegas filled with familiar game elements, but it remains an original television story—not a direct New Vegas adaptation and not a simple declaration of one game ending as canon. Season 3 is in production, though its release date has not been announced.
