The official FPL experience is inside the broader Premier League app, not a separate FPL-only app. If it crashes or will not load, open fantasy.premierleague.com immediately and make any urgent changes there. There is no evidence in the available official material of a confirmed universal outage; the cause may be the app release, your device, authentication, network filtering or a temporary service fault.
Use the FPL website first if a deadline is close
Open the official site in Safari, Chrome or another supported browser and sign in with the same account used in the app. Check your team before the displayed Gameweek deadline:
- Transfers and transfer-cost warnings
- Captain and vice-captain
- Chips
- Starting XI and bench order
The official help pages warn that changes made after a Gameweek deadline may not take effect until the following deadline. If a transfer or chip appears to fail, do not keep pressing the confirmation button. Reopen the team or transfer page and verify whether it was recorded first. FPL Help & FAQs
If the site does not work, try mobile data instead of Wi-Fi (or the reverse), a private browser window, another browser and another device. Save a screenshot and note the time of any error.

Work out whether the fault is local or service-side
| What you observe | More likely explanation | Next test |
|---|---|---|
| The app will not open at all | Damaged installation, incompatible operating system or a release-specific crash | Check OS/app updates, restart, then use the website |
| The app opens but FPL pages are blank or spin | Session, cached data, network filtering, API or feature-specific fault | Switch networks, disable filtering temporarily and test the website |
| The website works but the app does not | App installation, embedded-login handoff or stored session | Update, force-close and reinstall the official app |
| The website fails on several devices and networks | Stronger evidence of an account or service problem | Capture details and contact the appropriate support address |
| Only login fails | Credentials, cookies, browser handoff or identity-provider issue | Confirm the registered email and reset the password |
User reviews on Google Play describe login loops, “something went wrong” messages, pages that fail to load and crashes after updates. Those are real reports, but they do not establish a universal outage or prove that an update caused every failure. Google Play listing
Fix the Premier League app on iPhone or iPad
Check the iOS requirement
The current US App Store listing requires iOS 17 or later. Its version history says devices that cannot run iOS 17 may continue using their existing app version but cannot receive newer releases; the Premier League directs those users to its website for key actions such as managing an FPL team. The captured listing shows version 5.0.0 and a recent release marker, but app versions change, so check the listing on your device. Premier League app on the App Store

- Open Settings → General → Software Update and install any compatible update.
- Open the App Store, search for the Premier League app and install its update if offered.
- Force-close the app, then reopen it.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Test the general app homepage and the FPL area separately; scores and news can work while one FPL screen fails.
- If it still crashes, delete and reinstall the official app.
Reinstalling removes the local app and signs you out, but your team is associated with your Premier League account. Make sure you know the correct login method and registered email before deleting it. Do not expect a reinstall to repair a server-side fault.
iOS-specific causes
- An older iPhone or iPad cannot meet the iOS 17 requirement.
- Low free storage can prevent a complete update.
- VPNs, ad blockers, Private Relay or restrictive DNS can block login or API requests; disable them temporarily for a test.
- A notification may open a blank article even though the app itself loads.
Fix the app on Android
- In Google Play, search for Official Premier League App and confirm the publisher is The Football Association Premier League Ltd.
- Install any available update and restart the phone.
- Open Settings → Apps → Premier League (wording varies by manufacturer) and tap Force stop.
- Open Storage or Storage & cache and tap Clear cache.
- Reopen the app and test FPL.
- If it still fails, use the official website. Only after confirming your login details should you try Clear data or reinstalling.
Clearing cache removes temporary files. Clearing data is more disruptive: it signs you out and resets local preferences. Menu names differ between Android versions and manufacturers.
Fix login loops and “something went wrong” errors
The official FPL help guidance says to use your registered email address and notes that passwords are case-sensitive. Use the password-reset option if necessary, and check spam or junk folders for a confirmation message after registration or a reset. FPL Help & FAQs
- Log out of the app if that option is available, force-close it and try again.
- Confirm that the browser can sign in to the same account.
- Update the phone’s operating system and default browser.
- Temporarily disable VPNs, content blockers, Private Relay and restrictive DNS.
- If browser login works but the app cannot retain the session, reinstall the official app and use the website as the workaround.
- Do not create a second FPL account; it can leave you managing the wrong team.
When only one FPL screen is broken
Test the affected feature on the website and note whether the rest of the app works. A failure limited to Pick Team, Transfers, Leagues or Points may be a feature-specific bug rather than a complete outage. Switch networks, relaunch the app and clear Android cache (or reinstall on iOS). Before retrying any transfer or chip, verify whether the first attempt was already accepted.

Contact the right Premier League support team
The official contact page separates game/account support from technical app reports:
- FPL team, account or game questions: [email protected]
- Technical errors or feedback about the Premier League website/app: [email protected]
The Premier League warns that FPL or account questions sent to the general app address may not be answered there. Premier League Contact Us

Include your phone or tablet model, operating-system and app versions, country, whether the website works, Wi-Fi versus mobile-data results, exact error text, affected screen, start time, screenshots or a recording, and what happened after clearing cache or reinstalling. Mention the approaching deadline if one is relevant.
Avoid unsafe rollback and “repair” fixes
- Do not install unofficial APKs, modified packages or older builds from third-party sites.
- Do not use “phone cleaner” apps that claim to repair FPL; they cannot fix a server-side problem and may create privacy risks.
- Do not repeatedly submit transfers, chips or other actions while the interface is spinning.
- Do not delete your account to solve an app login problem.
For iOS, the App Store generally does not let users choose any arbitrary previous version. Android sideloading an old package carries security and compatibility risks and may not address a server-side incompatibility. Safer options are updating the operating system, waiting for an official fix, using the official FPL website and reporting the fault.
The Bottom Line
When the Premier League app crashes after an update, protect your team through the official FPL website first. Then distinguish an app-only problem from a website or account failure, update the device, clear temporary data safely and contact the correct support address with evidence.
