Whether chemistry matters in an Ultimate Team SBC depends on the game edition and the challenge format. In FC 27, Simplified SBCs use eligible Player Items and an Item Score; Puzzle SBCs use a squad and may require chemistry. FC 26 SBCs follow the squad-submission format. Check the live challenge’s requirements rather than assuming every SBC has the same chemistry target.
How FC 27 SBC formats differ
EA describes two SBC formats in FC 27: Simplified and Puzzle. The format determines what you submit and which requirements can apply. The live challenge panel is the authority for its specific conditions.

Does an SBC need chemistry?
Only if the particular squad-based challenge lists Chemistry as a requirement. FC 27 Puzzle SBCs can include a chemistry condition, but EA’s current guidance does not establish one chemistry formula or target for all SBCs. Read the challenge’s displayed checklist and threshold; do not apply a minimum from another challenge or an older game as a universal rule.

FC 27 Simplified SBCs do not ask you to arrange a squad to satisfy chemistry. They ask for eligible Player Items toward an Item Score instead.
Why won’t my SBC squad submit?
For a Puzzle SBC in FC 27 or a squad challenge in FC 26, compare your submitted squad with every condition shown on that specific challenge. A squad can meet its rating condition and still fail another listed requirement.

- Check any displayed Chemistry threshold.
- Check Squad Rating, Player Quality, League, Nation, and Club conditions if present.
- Confirm each selected item is eligible for the challenge.
- Recheck the challenge panel for the exact thresholds; there is no single requirement set shared by all SBCs.
For a FC 27 Simplified SBC, focus on eligible items and the Item Score progress indicator: squad arrangement and chemistry are not the submission test.
What Item Score means in FC 27
Item Score is the progress measure used by Simplified SBCs. Submit eligible Player Items to build progress toward the challenge’s required total. You can contribute over multiple submissions, and progress can be saved. The reward is not granted until the full requirement is reached. EA says an over-score warning may appear, so review the amount before confirming a contribution that would exceed the target.

How FC 26 SBC requirements work
EA’s FC 26 guidance describes the traditional process: build and submit a squad that meets the challenge requirements. SBCs may be single-part or multi-part, repeatable, player-focused, upgrade-focused, or puzzle-based; some provide group rewards. Because the required conditions belong to each challenge, check its own panel for chemistry or any other squad constraint.
Check these things before submitting
- Identify the format. In FC 27, determine whether the challenge is Simplified or Puzzle; in FC 26, follow the squad-based challenge requirements.
- Read the complete requirement list. Note any chemistry threshold, rating, quality, league, nation, club, or item-eligibility rule actually displayed.
- Review the reward and expiry. Check the challenge details and look through your Club and SBC Storage before sourcing more Player Items; EA recommends checking items you already own first.
- Inspect every item selected. Confirm that you are willing to give up each Player Item before submission.
- For Simplified SBCs, check the score. Watch the Item Score progress and heed an over-score warning before confirming.
Can you get players back after submitting an SBC?
No. EA says submitted Player Items are permanently removed from your Club and cannot be restored by EA Advisors. This applies to full squad submissions and to partial contributions in FC 27 Simplified SBCs, so verify the selected items before each submission.
