ffc10.dll Load Error: Repair the Legacy Game Behind It

If ffc10.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair the game or application that originally installed it rather than downloading a replacement DLL. The file is a legacy 32-bit Immersion component, so the correct fix is usually the affected program’s Verify, Repair, or reinstall option.

What this file actually does

ffc10.dll is the Windows library named Feel Foundation Classes, associated with Immersion Corporation. It was used by older applications and games for force-feedback and haptic features.

The known file is:

  • Description: Feel Foundation Classes
  • Publisher: Immersion Corporation
  • Architecture: 32-bit, also called Win32
  • Known version: 1.0.10.0
  • Approximate size: 0.12 MB

It is not a Windows system DLL and is not part of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. It normally belongs in the folder containing the older game or application executable, not automatically in C:WindowsSystem32.

Known game installations that have packaged ffc10.dll include Star Wars: Jedi Knight II – Jedi Outcast and Slave Zero. That is not a complete list, and different editions or releases may package their files differently.

The original Immersion distribution package for this legacy library is not currently verified. Use the original application installer, a legitimate game launcher, trusted installation media, or a verified backup instead of an isolated DLL download.

Match the symptom to the likely cause

Symptom Most likely cause Best first action
Error appears immediately after installing a game Incomplete installation or blocked file Verify or reinstall the game
Error starts after antivirus activity The DLL was quarantined or deleted Check Protection History
Error begins after moving the program folder Files were separated from the executable or dependencies Restore the original folder structure
“Specified module could not be found” appears even though the file exists A dependency of ffc10.dll is missing Repair the complete application
“Not designed to run on Windows” appears Corruption, wrong architecture, or incompatible legacy software Reinstall the application’s original 32-bit files
“Entry point not found” appears The DLL and application are from different builds Restore matching files from the same installation
The game starts but force feedback does not work An obsolete driver, device, or compatibility issue may be involved Check the application and hardware path
Several Windows components are failing Broader Windows corruption may be present Run DISM, then SFC

A message naming ffc10.dll does not prove that the DLL itself is the only problem. Windows can display the name of a dependency chain’s first failing component even when another required file is absent.

Fix 1: Verify the game or application files

This is the safest and most likely repair when the error identifies a game. File verification restores missing or damaged files without requiring you to guess which DLL build belongs to that release.

Use a launcher’s verification feature

The exact labels vary by launcher, but look for Verify, Repair, Scan and repair, or Validate files in the game’s management menu.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For an Epic Games installation:

  1. Open the Epic Games Launcher.
  2. Select Library.
  3. Find the affected game.
  4. Select the three dots beside the game.
  5. Choose Manage.
  6. Select Verify.
  7. Wait for the scan to finish.
  8. Start the game again from the launcher.

Verification may replace missing or corrupted files while preserving saved games. Do not interrupt the process or manually copy another game’s DLL into the folder.

For another launcher, open the game’s properties or management page and select its equivalent file-integrity command. If no verification command exists, continue with the repair or reinstall steps below.

Confirm the result

The repair worked if:

  • The game starts without the ffc10.dll message.
  • The launcher reports that verification completed successfully.
  • A matching ffc10.dll appears beside the game’s executable or in the game’s own library folder.
  • The error changes to a different, separately named dependency.

If the same error remains, restart Windows once and try again. If the launcher repeatedly reports a missing file, check antivirus quarantine before reinstalling.

Fix 2: Repair the installed program

Windows can repair many conventional applications without removing their data.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Repair through Windows 11

  1. Right-click Start and select Installed apps.
  2. Find the affected application.
  3. Select the three dots beside it.
  4. Choose Advanced options.
  5. Select Repair.
  6. Start the application again.

If Repair is unavailable, the program may use a traditional installer or may only support repair from its launcher.

Repair through Windows 10

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Select Apps & features.
  4. Select the affected application.
  5. Choose Advanced options.
  6. Select Repair.

Repair through Control Panel

For older desktop software:

  1. Press Windows key, type Control Panel, and open it.
  2. Select Programs.
  3. Select Programs and Features.
  4. Right-click the affected program.
  5. Choose Repair or Change.
  6. Follow the installer’s instructions.
  7. Restart Windows if requested.

If the repair completes but ffc10.dll is still missing, uninstall and reinstall the exact application from its original installer, legitimate store, or original installation media. Reinstall the application to its normal folder rather than extracting only one DLL from another computer.

Fix 3: Reinstall the original application

A complete reinstall is the definitive fix when the application owns the DLL and its installation is damaged.

Before removing the program:

  1. Check whether the game stores saves in a separate folder.
  2. Back up saves and configuration files if the application does not synchronize them.
  3. Record any custom installation path or launch options.
  4. Check the antivirus history for a detection involving ffc10.dll.
  5. Close the game, launcher, and related background processes.

Then:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Open Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
  4. Select the affected program.
  5. Choose Uninstall.
  6. Restart Windows.
  7. Install the program again from its original installer, legitimate launcher, or original media.
  8. Apply the publisher’s legitimate update or patch if the program requires one.
  9. Start the program once before adding mods or custom files.

For old CD or DVD software, reinstall from the original media and use only patches intended for that exact release. Do not replace its files with a DLL from a different game, edition, or computer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If the program is installed under a protected location and cannot write its own files, right-click its launcher and select Run as administrator for the installation or first repair attempt. Administrator access does not make an incompatible program compatible, so use it only when the installer or application cannot access its own folder.

Fix 4: Check antivirus quarantine

Modern security software may quarantine an old binary because of its age, signing status, or behavior. That does not prove the file is malicious, and it does not prove a detection is false.

Check Windows Security

  1. Open Start.
  2. Type Windows Security and open it.
  3. Select Virus & threat protection.
  4. Select Protection history.
  5. Look for an event involving ffc10.dll or the affected game.
  6. Expand the event to see its path and detection details.

Restore or allow the file only when all of the following are true:

  • It came from the original application installer or a verified game installation.
  • The path matches the application’s folder.
  • You have checked the detection and scanned the surrounding installation.
  • You are confident the installation source is trustworthy.

Do not disable antivirus permanently or add a broad exclusion for an entire drive. If the file was restored, run another scan and then use the game launcher’s verification feature.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If the detection points to a random download folder, a temporary directory, or an unexpected system location, do not restore it. Remove the untrusted file and reinstall the application from its original source.

Fix 5: Check the 32-bit architecture

The known ffc10.dll file is 32-bit. It belongs with a 32-bit application, including a 32-bit game running on 64-bit Windows.

A 32-bit process cannot load a 64-bit DLL, and a 64-bit process cannot load a 32-bit DLL. Windows 64-bit editions can run many 32-bit applications through WOW64, but that compatibility layer does not convert an incorrect DLL into the right architecture.

Do not copy a 64-bit replacement into the game folder. Do not copy the 32-bit file into System32 or `SysWOW64 as a guess.

To check the application:

  1. Open the application’s installation folder.
  2. Right-click its main executable.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Open the Details tab and note the available product information.
  5. If the program includes documentation, check whether it identifies itself as 32-bit.
  6. Open the properties of the recovered ffc10.dll and inspect its Details tab.

The most reliable correction for an architecture mismatch is to reinstall the application’s own files. If the game also depends on obsolete copy protection, a force-feedback device driver, or other legacy hardware, restoring this DLL alone will not resolve the broader compatibility problem.

Fix 6: Check dependencies before installing Visual C++

A common error is to install a current Visual C++ package because the missing filename ends in .dll. ffc10.dll is not a Visual C++ Redistributable filename, and installing a runtime will not recreate it.

A dependency can still be involved. If the message says The specified module could not be found while ffc10.dll visibly exists, Windows may be unable to load another library required by it or by the application.

Use this order:

  1. Repair or reinstall the affected application.
  2. Read the complete error text for a separately named Microsoft runtime.
  3. Check the application’s documentation for a required runtime.
  4. Install only the architecture and generation specified by the application.
  5. Keep older Visual C++ generations installed when older programs require them.

For a 32-bit application, an x86 runtime may be required even on 64-bit Windows. Microsoft’s current packages use names such as vc_redist.x86.exe, vc_redist.x64.exe, and vc_redist.arm64.exe; the package architecture must match the application’s requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Restart Windows after installing a required runtime and test the application again. If no separately named runtime is reported, do not keep installing Visual C++ packages at random.

Fix 7: Do not use regsvr32 as a general repair

regsvr32 is not a universal DLL repair command. It registers DLLs that provide the appropriate registration entry point, such as DllRegisterServer, which is generally associated with COM components.

There is no verified evidence that ffc10.dll is a self-registering COM DLL. Running commands such as these is therefore unlikely to help:

regsvr32 ffc10.dll
regsvr32 C:WindowsSystem32ffc10.dll

It can also produce a misleading architecture error when the wrong version of regsvr32 is used. Use registration only when the application’s own documentation explicitly requires it and identifies the DLL as a component that supports registration.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For this file, repair the owning game or application instead.

Fix 8: Repair Windows components only when Windows itself is damaged

Because ffc10.dll is an application-owned legacy DLL, Windows component repair normally will not restore it. Use DISM and SFC when Windows has broader symptoms, such as repeated failures in built-in programs, damaged protected files, or an SFC result identifying system corruption.

Run DISM

  1. Open Start.
  2. Type Command Prompt.
  3. Right-click Command Prompt.
  4. Select Run as administrator.
  5. Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
  6. Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  1. Wait for the operation to finish.
  2. Restart Windows if requested.

Run System File Checker

Open an elevated Command Prompt again and run:

sfc /scannow

Wait until verification reaches 100 percent. Then interpret the result:

  • Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations: protected Windows files were not identified as damaged.
  • Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them: restart and test the application.
  • Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them: review the result, restart, and consider broader Windows recovery if other system symptoms remain.

DISM should run before SFC because it repairs the component source SFC uses. Neither command should be expected to recreate a game-owned ffc10.dll.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If repeatedly hunting Windows versions and rerunning SFC or DISM is becoming guesswork, Outbyte PC Repair can perform a free scan that shows what it identifies, while repair is handled by the full version; reinstalling the original game remains the definitive fix for this application-owned DLL.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

Fix 9: Update drivers only when the hardware path is involved

ffc10.dll itself is not a graphics, sound, or force-feedback device driver. Driver work is relevant only if the game also fails to detect a joystick, reports force-feedback errors, or behaves differently after a Windows or hardware change.

Check Device Manager

  1. Right-click Start.
  2. Select Device Manager.
  3. Expand Human Interface Devices, Sound, video and game controllers, and any category matching the affected hardware.
  4. Right-click the relevant device.
  5. Select Properties.
  6. Open the Driver tab.
  7. Note the provider, date, and version.
  8. Use Update Driver only when a known compatible driver is available.
  9. Restart Windows and test the game.

For an old controller, install drivers from the hardware manufacturer or the application’s documented support package. Do not install a random driver because the DLL error mentions Immersion technology.

When a full driver inventory is difficult and manually comparing versions is wasting time, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver problems and show the detected results, while driver installation is handled by the full version; it is not a substitute for reinstalling the game that owns ffc10.dll.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Fix 10: Use Windows Features only for a clearly identified requirement

Some old games require optional Windows components, but enabling every legacy feature will not restore ffc10.dll.

If the game’s documentation specifically names a Windows feature:

  1. Open Start.
  2. Type Windows Features.
  3. Select Turn Windows features on or off.
  4. Enable only the documented feature.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Restart Windows if prompted.
  7. Test the application.

For example, an application may identify a required legacy framework or compatibility component separately from its own DLL. If the error names only ffc10.dll, prioritize application repair instead of changing unrelated Windows Features.

Fix 11: Consider malware, disk damage, or System Restore

A deleted or altered application file can result from malware, failing storage, filesystem damage, or an interrupted update.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Run a full scan:

  1. Open Windows Security.
  2. Select Virus & threat protection.
  3. Select Scan options.
  4. Choose Full scan.
  5. Select Scan now.

For suspected persistent malware, use the Microsoft Defender Offline option from the same area. Restore the application from a known-good backup or reinstall it after the scan.

Use System Restore only when the problem began after a known system change and a suitable restore point exists:

  1. Open Start.
  2. Type Recovery.
  3. Open Recovery.
  4. Select Open System Restore.
  5. Choose a restore point created before the error began.
  6. Review the affected programs.
  7. Select Finish if the change is appropriate.

System Restore can affect applications, drivers, settings, and updates. It is not a targeted repair for one game DLL, so application reinstall is usually more predictable.

Avoid unsafe DLL downloads

Do not download ffc10.dll from a random DLL website or copy it from an unknown computer. An isolated file may have the wrong version, wrong architecture, missing dependencies, altered contents, or a malicious payload. Placing it in a searched directory can also create a DLL-loading security risk.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Use these sources instead:

  • The game launcher’s Verify or Repair function
  • The application developer’s original installer
  • A legitimate store’s re-download facility
  • Original CD or DVD installation media
  • A verified backup of the same application
  • A legitimate patch for the exact release

Manual copying is reasonable only when the exact trusted file has been recovered from one of those sources. Put it back in the application’s own directory, normally beside the executable, and then verify the complete installation.

FAQ

Is ffc10.dll a Windows file?

No evidence indicates that it ships as a Windows component. It is associated with Immersion’s Feel Foundation Classes and is normally supplied by an older application or game.

Is ffc10.dll a virus?

The filename alone cannot establish that. A legitimate copy can be part of an old game, but a copy found in an unexpected folder or flagged by antivirus must be investigated. Check its origin, path, quarantine event, and complete installation.

Is it part of Visual C++?

No. Installing Visual C++ will not recreate ffc10.dll. Install a Visual C++ package only when the application separately identifies a missing Microsoft runtime.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Should I put it in System32?

No. Restore the file to the application’s own directory through verification or reinstallation. Blindly copying a 32-bit DLL into a Windows system folder can create versioning and security problems.

Should I register it with regsvr32?

Usually not. There is no verified evidence that this file is a self-registering COM DLL. regsvr32 does not repair ordinary application DLLs.

Will a 32-bit game run on 64-bit Windows?

Many 32-bit applications can run through WOW64, but compatibility also depends on drivers, copy protection, hardware, and the application itself. A 64-bit DLL cannot replace this known 32-bit file.

What should I provide if the error remains?

Record the exact error text, application or game name, executable path, Windows version and architecture, antivirus event, whether ffc10.dll exists beside the executable, and whether the launcher’s verification or reinstall completed successfully. That information distinguishes a missing file from a dependency, driver, or broader compatibility problem.
