Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor a local 3840×2160, 60 fps SDR video with audio, this FFmpeg command loops the file indefinitely, encodes it with NVIDIA NVENC, and sends it to YouTube Live over RTMPS:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "input.mp4"
-map 0:v:0 -map 0:a:0?
-c:v h264_nvenc -preset p5 -rc cbr
-b:v 50M -maxrate 50M -bufsize 100M
-g 120 -bf 2
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_INGEST_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
Replace the final address with the RTMPS ingest URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. Keep the key private. This is a starting configuration, not a tested guarantee for your particular file, GPU, FFmpeg build, or network.
What the command does
-rereads the file at its native frame rate, pacing file input in real time.-stream_loop -1repeats the input indefinitely. Both are input options, so they appear before-i.-map 0:v:0selects the first video stream.-map 0:a:0?selects the first audio stream if one exists; the question mark makes that mapping optional. Change the mapping if your file’s streams differ.-c:v h264_nvencselects NVIDIA’s hardware H.264 encoder.-preset p5selects an NVENC preset; available options depend on the installed FFmpeg encoder and GPU.-rc cbrrequests constant-bitrate rate control. The 50 Mbps target and maximum, with a 100 Mbps buffer, are the command’s H.264 video settings.-g 120sets a 120-frame GOP. At 60 fps that is a two-second keyframe interval.-bf 2requests two B-frames.-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100encodes audio as AAC at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz.-f flvselects the output container used for the RTMP-family stream transport. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP.
FFmpeg documents the looping and read-rate options in its FFmpeg documentation. YouTube’s encoder recommendations cover ingest settings and transport.
Prepare the file, GPU, and stream key
Check the source before encoding
Confirm that the file is actually 3840×2160 at 60 fps and determine whether it has audio, what pixel format it uses, and whether it is SDR or HDR. The command does not upscale a smaller video or convert an arbitrary frame rate into 4K60. If the source’s properties differ, adjust the workflow deliberately rather than assuming the output will match the command’s intended format.

For game footage, also review whether you have the rights to stream the video and its audio. A loop command does not grant permission to use game footage, music, cutscenes, or other material. YouTube’s copyright and reused-content considerations are separate from whether the encoder accepts the file; use the copyright safety checklist as a practical review aid.
Check NVENC support
NVENC is a hardware-based encoder on NVIDIA GPUs. Codec, profile, bit depth, dimensions, frame-rate support, and practical encoding performance vary by GPU. Check the exact GPU and the installed FFmpeg build before relying on a 4K60 encode. Run:

Choose the right bitrate and video path
YouTube Help lists 50 Mbps for H.264 at 2160p60 and 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265/HEVC at 2160p60. Those are the recommendations shown when checked on October 3, 2026; the retrieved page does not state a publication year. The command uses the H.264 recommendation. YouTube also recommends CBR, frame rates up to 60 fps, a two-second keyframe frequency (not more than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. For stereo, it lists 128 Kbps audio at 44.1 kHz.
The 50 Mbps figure is the video bitrate, not the entire network requirement: audio bitrate and protocol overhead add to it. Ensure the upload connection can sustain the total stream rate with headroom. A speed test or theoretical connection maximum alone does not verify that the route will remain stable during a long stream.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
For SDR, YouTube’s advanced recommendations include progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, square pixels, and Rec. 709. The supplied command requests two B-frames but does not explicitly set every advanced property; check the source and encoder output where those details matter.
When to use HEVC or HDR instead
YouTube lists H.265/HEVC as an option at 2160p60 with a 35 Mbps recommendation. For HDR, YouTube recommends H.265/HEVC over RTMP(S), 10-bit HDR, and the relevant HDR color metadata. Do not send HDR footage through the SDR H.264 command unchanged: verify the whole path and preserve or set the source’s color characteristics correctly. AV1 is not supported for HDR in YouTube’s listed settings. Codec support depends on the GPU and FFmpeg build, so there is no universally best codec for every setup.

Test before leaving the stream unattended
- Run the command with a representative section or test broadcast, not only a static frame. YouTube recommends checking representative audio and video movement before going live.
- Listen for audio and inspect motion, image quality, and the transition from the end of the file back to its beginning.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health indicators during the test and verify that the stream is arriving at the intended resolution and frame rate.
- Only rely on a long-running broadcast after the test confirms stable ingest, acceptable sound and picture, and a loop transition suitable for your content.
A loop repeats the file’s ending and beginning; it does not blend them. A black frame, audio gap, or abrupt scene change at that boundary will recur each time. Prepare a seamless source if the transition needs to be unobtrusive.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Checks and corrective action |
|---|---|
FFmpeg reports that h264_nvenc is unavailable or cannot initialize |
Check the installed build with ffmpeg -h encoder=h264_nvenc, confirm the NVIDIA GPU and its supported format, and verify the system can access the GPU. A build exposing the encoder does not prove that a particular GPU supports the requested encode. |
| YouTube does not receive the stream | Recheck the ingest endpoint and stream key in Live Control Room, outbound connectivity and firewall rules, and network stability. Keep the key private; correct a mistyped or outdated destination before changing encoding options. |
| Stream health reports dropped frames or unstable delivery | Check sustained upload capacity against the video bitrate plus audio and transport overhead. Investigate network stability and whether the GPU can maintain real-time encoding at the selected settings. |
| Video appears at the wrong size or frame rate | Probe the input properties and confirm they match the intended 3840×2160, 60 fps source. This command does not upscale or make a non-60-fps source into native 60 fps. |
| No audio, or the wrong audio is heard | Confirm the file contains an audio stream and that the first audio stream is the one you want. If the stream layout differs, adjust -map; the optional map prevents a missing audio stream from stopping the command. |
| The loop has a visible or audible jump | Inspect the file’s final frames and audio tail against its opening. Replace or edit the source to make a suitable loop boundary; the looping flag does not repair discontinuities. |
| HDR looks washed out or has incorrect color | Do not use the SDR command unchanged. Confirm that the codec, 10-bit path, and HDR color metadata are supported and correctly carried through to YouTube. |
These are diagnostic paths, not confirmed causes for any particular computer or stream. Also check whether the file’s timestamps and formats are acceptable to the installed FFmpeg build. Because this workflow reads a file, -re is used to pace it; FFmpeg cautions against applying read-rate limiting carelessly to an actual capture or live input, where it can cause packet loss.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel that needs a recording or playlist to repeat around the clock, StreamNeo keeps the video running from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera.
