There are 24 map fragments across Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree: 19 in the base game and five in the expansion. The fragments reveal regions on your map; they do not mark every Site of Grace, boss, cave, catacomb, Evergaol, or collectible. For that second task, use a comprehensive interactive map with location-marker categories.
What “all map locations” means in Elden Ring
A map fragment is a regional reveal item. Collecting one fills in the terrain and roads for its area, but it is not an exhaustive list of places to visit. A complete location hunt requires a separate marker map that covers Sites of Grace, bosses, Evergaols, caves, catacombs, and collectibles.
How many map fragments are there?

The expansion adds five fragments. The region names below are the established fragment locations; several areas use concealed or indirect approaches, so do not assume that the fastest-looking road on the map is the correct entrance.

| Scadu Altus | One of the five expansion fragments; reaching some surrounding routes may require progress through less obvious paths. |

| Southern Shore | One of the five expansion fragments; treat the approach as an exploration route, not simply a road-following exercise. |
| Abyssal Woods | One of the five expansion fragments and an area reached through a concealed route. Expect major spoilers if you look up the access path. |
Suggested order for the expansion
- Pick up the Gravesite Plain fragment near the starting area and the road to the Scorched Ruins.
- Use the newly revealed terrain to orient yourself toward Scadu Altus and the routes beyond it.
- Only consult a route guide for Rauh Ruins, Southern Shore, or Abyssal Woods when normal roads stop making sense; those regions can depend on hidden or optional access.
Spoiler warning: detailed instructions for the concealed entrances to the later expansion regions can reveal major exploration and area-access surprises.

Base-game map fragments
The base game contains 19 fragments: 14 for surface regions and five for underground maps. The available published guide evidence confirms those totals but does not provide a complete, verified name-by-name list and route sequence here. Rather than inventing region names or directions, use a dedicated base-game fragment walkthrough alongside the in-game map and check each recovered surface and underground section as you progress.
Surface versus underground coverage
- Surface fragments: 14 pieces reveal the principal overworld regions.
- Underground maps: five separate map pieces cover subterranean areas; finding them is a different task from filling in the surface map.
Fragments versus every named location

Use fragments to reveal geography and an interactive marker map to track individual points of interest. Neither resource replaces the other: a fragment can show where a region is, while a marker map answers whether you have found every named location inside it.
