The theory is that Eshmel, the Pale Raven, is Solel reborn. A set of reported parallels—class, stance, spear and a comment about the weapon feeling familiar—has led one article to connect the two characters. But none of those clues is an explicit reveal, and no official confirmation has been reported.
What is the Fortune’s Weave mystery?
The proposed answer to “Who was Eshmel before?” is Solel: the theory says the protagonist known as the Herald of the Pale Raven is Solel returned in another life. The claim is presented in a Wukeer article, not as a confirmed plot fact. Read the article outlining the theory.

That distinction matters. A reincarnation reveal would establish Eshmel’s identity directly; the case described so far instead assembles likenesses and thematic clues. Those can make the interpretation compelling without proving it.
What clues are being used to connect Eshmel and Solel?
The Wukeer article points to several similarities between the characters and reads them together as evidence:

- As its professor, you must lead your students in class and in tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome.
- Class: It reports that both characters begin as Tridents.
- Stance: Their stances are described as resembling one another.
- Spear: Eshmel’s spear is said to resemble Solel’s once its bandages are removed.
- Dialogue: In Part 3, Credna reportedly remarks that the spear seems familiar.
The weapon and dialogue form the most pointed part of the argument: a familiar-looking spear is a more specific echo than a broad resemblance in posture. Even so, Credna’s reported line does not, on its own, name Solel or establish that Eshmel is a reincarnation.
Does the redemption theme confirm the theory?
No. The article also connects Fortuna’s language about making amends with its interpretation of Solel’s past failures across the Flame Lords’ stories. On that reading, Eshmel’s journey could give Solel a chance at redemption. It is a thematic explanation for why the characters might be linked, not independent confirmation of their identity.
Claims about Nabatean souls, Sothis, the Order of Mithras or the details of Solel’s conduct should likewise be treated cautiously here: the available reporting does not include an official game transcript or developer statement validating those particulars.

Has Nintendo confirmed that Eshmel is Solel reborn?
No official confirmation or developer quote about Eshmel’s prior identity appears in the available sources. The reported clues support a fan theory, but there is no cited scene explicitly revealing “Eshmel is Solel,” and the theory remains unconfirmed.

What is Fortune’s Weave, and where does it fit?
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave was reported released for Nintendo Switch 2 by VGC on September 17, 2026. VGC describes its world as shared with Three Houses, while noting limited direct ties between the stories. VGC’s FAQ covers the game’s release and setting.
For broader setup, a TechRadar preview describes Dagda, the Heroic Games, a calamity five years later, the four Flame Lords—Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda—and the player’s role as the Pale Raven. That is preview context, not evidence for Eshmel’s identity. Read the TechRadar preview.

Nintendo’s May 8, 2026 investor presentation listed the game among upcoming Switch 2 titles, but that earlier status predates VGC’s later release report. See Nintendo’s presentation.
What would settle the question?
The clearest confirmation would be an explicit in-game identification of Eshmel as Solel, or an official statement from Nintendo or Intelligent Systems. Until then, the useful distinction is between a suggestive parallel and a stated identity: the class, stance, spear, dialogue and redemption reading make the theory worth considering, but the reported evidence stops short of solving the mystery.
