How do you beat Five Nights at Freddy’s?
The original Five Nights at Freddy’s is a resource-management game as much as a horror game. Cameras help you track animatronics, while door lights and doors help you respond to threats at the office. But electricity is limited: the Steam store page explains that once power runs out, the security doors and lights stop working. Steam’s game listing is the primary source for that mechanic.
Use checks with a purpose instead of leaving the monitor open or holding doors shut by default. A Steam Community walkthrough says that cameras, door lights, and closed doors all contribute to the usage meter. Its tactical recommendations are community guidance, not a guarantee that one exact routine works on every platform or night.
A practical beginner rhythm
- Make a short camera check. Look for relevant movement, including Foxy at Pirate Cove (camera 1C), then return to the office rather than lingering on the monitor.
- Check a doorway when there is reason to suspect danger. Use the appropriate hallway light to see whether Bonnie or Chica is near before deciding whether to close that door.
- Close a door only when needed. Reopen it once the threat is gone; a closed door uses power while it remains shut.
- Repeat with the night in mind. Later nights require quicker, more deliberate checks, so adapt your attention rather than relying on a fixed seconds-per-action schedule.
The Steam Community walkthrough gives a night length of 8 minutes 55 seconds, but that is a game-mechanics figure reported in a guide updated June 15, 2022—not an independently measured benchmark or a promise for every version.

How do you save power in FNAF 1?
Every check has a cost. Cameras give you information, lights let you inspect nearby doorways, and doors can block an approaching threat; using these systems repeatedly or for too long increases power use. The aim is not to avoid them altogether, but to spend electricity on information or protection you need.
- Keep doors open when you have no reason to block an entrance.
- Use hallway lights as brief checks, not as something to leave on.
- Check cameras regularly enough to track threats, especially Foxy, but avoid leaving the monitor up without a purpose.
- When a threat passes, stop spending power on the response that is no longer necessary.
These are resource-management principles, not a guaranteed rotation. Community guides describe useful habits, but the ideal cadence changes with night difficulty and may differ across ports.

How do I stop Foxy?
Foxy is associated with Pirate Cove, shown on camera 1C in the Steam Community walkthrough. A strategy guide recommends checking Foxy regularly on camera; the point is to avoid neglecting that feed for long stretches while still managing the cost of monitoring.
Bonnie and Chica call for a different response: check the corresponding hallway lights when you have reason to think one is near, then close the relevant door if necessary. The guide also recommends paying attention to footsteps. Treat audio cues and timing as practical hints rather than identical behavior across every version.

How should your strategy change on later nights?
Do not overcomplicate the first night. A community strategy guide describes Night 1 as the easiest and says Bonnie and Chica can already reach the doors, while Freddy becomes active later. As nights progress, the same guide characterizes Nights 5 and 6 as more difficult; faster, purposeful checks become more important.
The Steam Community walkthrough says completing the main game unlocks Night 6, followed by Night 7, or Custom Night, where difficulty can be set. Custom Night is an adjustable challenge rather than another fixed step with one universal strategy.

Which controls should you use?
Button-level instructions depend on your platform. The Steam Community walkthrough lists separate controls for PC, mobile, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. Its PC instructions use a mouse, while mobile uses touch controls; console mappings are platform-specific. Identify your version before following a control guide rather than mixing button instructions from different editions.
A separate community strategy guide covers PC and warns that the mobile version differs, including in night duration. Its PC advice should not be treated as an exact timing guide for mobile.

Are there cheats to skip nights?
There is no reliably verified, platform-independent cheat code established here. A search result pointed to a Steam Community page claiming a keyboard combination could skip to 6 AM, but the page is marked removed, and the claim was not corroborated by an official source or verified for current versions. Do not count on a key combination to complete a night.
Also be cautious of advice to “play dead” during a power outage. The community strategy guide says that tactic does not prevent an attack. The dependable approach is to manage electricity before it runs out, rather than rely on an unverified skip or a supposed outage trick.
