It can be caused by a Cfx.re or Rockstar outage, stale local login data, security software, network filtering, or—less often—a launcher, account, or GTA V installation problem. Check the Cfx.re status page first, then reset the two documented authentication locations:

%localappdata%digitalentitlementsClose FiveM and your launchers, delete those items, restart Windows, and launch FiveM from the Start menu. This often takes only a few minutes when stale authentication data is the cause, but no local fix can repair an upstream outage.

What FiveM error 530 means
The message may read “Could not contact entitlement service. Status code: 530,” “Could not fetch C->S authentication ticket: HTTP 530,” or “Error generating ROS entitlement token: 530.” In each case, FiveM failed to complete an authentication or entitlement request needed to start or connect.
HTTP 530 does not, by itself, prove that you are banned, that GTA V must be reinstalled, that your internet is completely offline, or that the roleplay server you selected is broken. The failure can occur before FiveM reaches any server. A documented forum incident showed a Cloudflare/Argo Tunnel error for lambda.fivem.net, illustrating how an upstream infrastructure failure can produce the same code: Cfx.re forum report.

First decide whether the problem is local or service-side

The Cfx.re Platform Status page lists FiveM and FXServer components. Check it before deleting folders or reinstalling software.
Fix 530 by resetting local authentication data
Cfx.re’s client-issues documentation identifies these locations for related authentication and startup problems. Deleting them makes fresh authentication data get created; it does not uninstall GTA V or remove your account. You may need to sign in again.
- Exit FiveM.
- Exit Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, or Epic Games Launcher.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager. End remaining FiveM, Rockstar, Steam, or Epic processes.
- Press Win+R, enter
%appdata%citizenfx, and press Enter. - Delete
ros_id.dat. - Press Win+R again, enter
%localappdata%digitalentitlements, and press Enter. - Delete the
digitalentitlementsfolder. - Restart Windows.
- Launch FiveM from the Windows Start menu rather than an old executable shortcut. Sign in if prompted and test again.
If Windows cannot find the items
ros_id.datmay not exist if FiveM has never completed its first authentication.- The
citizenfxfolder is in Roaming AppData, which is why%appdata%is used. digitalentitlementsmay not appear until Rockstar authentication has been attempted.- Do not create empty replacement files.
- If a file is in use, close every related process and retry after a reboot.
Do not start by deleting the entire FiveM cache
“Clear the cache” is an imprecise online recommendation. For an entitlement error, start with the two authentication locations above. Cfx.re documents deleting caches.xml for particular component-loading failures, and removing the entire application-data folder only if that narrower step fails. A full data-folder reset is disruptive: resources and cached files must be downloaded again and useful diagnostic files may disappear.

Check antivirus and Windows Firewall
Cfx.re notes that some antivirus products are known to block FiveM in connection with ROS entitlement-token errors. Test security interference safely:
- Temporarily pause third-party antivirus protection only long enough to launch and test FiveM.
- Open Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app through firewall.
- Allow FiveM and the relevant Rockstar launcher components on the appropriate private network.
- Re-enable protection immediately after the test.
If FiveM works only while protection is paused, create a targeted exclusion or contact the antivirus vendor. Never leave antivirus or the firewall permanently disabled, and do not download “error-fix” executables.
Test the network path
When the authentication reset does not help, isolate routing and filtering problems:

- Restart the modem and router.
- In Windows Settings → Network & internet → Proxy, disable a proxy you configured manually.
- Temporarily disable VPN or tunneling software.
- Open an elevated Command Prompt and run:
ipconfig /flushdns - Try a different DNS resolver as a diagnostic, not as a guaranteed cure.
- Test FiveM through a phone hotspot.

Community reports have associated recurring authentication-service failures with regional connectivity, but that is anecdotal rather than an official Cfx.re diagnosis: forum discussion. A VPN can add latency, cause packet loss, trigger anti-VPN rules, or violate a server’s policy, so treat it as a diagnostic contingency.
Verify Rockstar, GTA V, and platform ownership
Use this branch after checking status and resetting authentication data:

- Open the launcher associated with that installation and sign in to the correct Rockstar account.
- If FiveM cannot validate ownership, launch GTA V once through its normal launcher.
- Run the platform’s built-in file-verification tool.
These are separate checks: FiveM client authentication, Rockstar Social Club/Launcher authentication, GTA V ownership validation, and a roleplay server’s own whitelist or login system. Reinstalling GTA V is excessive unless verification identifies damaged or missing files. Reinstalling FiveM cannot repair a Cfx.re outage, DNS block, firewall rule, or invalid upstream response.

When error 530 appears on only one server
Try another server. If other servers work, the affected server may be offline, private, misconfigured, running a failing resource, or having its own authentication or connection problem. Contact its administrators and ask whether it is updating or reachable.
For a direct test, press F8 inside FiveM and use the address supplied by the server owner:
connect IP:PortCfx.re documents examples such as connect 127.0.0.1:30120 and connect cfx.re/join/y4lg95 in its console-command reference. Do not invent an address or port-forward your home router unless you administer the server.

End-of-support and end-of-life warnings
An outdated server artifact is a separate issue. Cfx.re says players do not need to act on a gray end-of-support warning. A red end-of-life warning that blocks connection requires the server owner to update the artifact; contact that server’s administrators. See Cfx.re’s EOS/EOL guidance.
When to stop troubleshooting and wait
If the status page shows an incident, several people are affected, or the same error occurs on different devices and networks, repeated reinstalls will not help. Wait for the provider to restore authentication services and retry later. Error 530 alone is not evidence of a ban.
If 530 continues after every test
Use the official Cfx.re support entry point and include:
- A screenshot showing the complete 530 message
- FiveM crash or report ID, if displayed
- Relevant FiveM logs
- Windows version
- Whether GTA V is from Steam, Epic, or Rockstar
- Whether every server or only one server fails
- Whether a mobile hotspot changes the result
- Installed antivirus and firewall products
- The failure timestamp and time zone

Is FiveM error 530 permanent?
No. It may clear when a service outage ends or when local authentication, security, or network interference is corrected.
