If Logitech G HUB will not open on Windows 11, do not start by deleting its folders or editing the registry. Restart Windows, stop any stuck G HUB processes, and try Logitech’s current installer and its Reinstall option first. If the installer itself fails, repair Microsoft Visual C++; only then move to a profile-backed-up clean reinstall.
This guide separates launch failures, installer errors, and device-detection problems so you can use the least destructive fix for your symptom. Logitech currently lists G HUB as supporting Windows 11; download the latest version shown on its official G HUB support page rather than relying on an old installer.
Identify the G HUB problem first

Logitech’s G HUB installation and update troubleshooting specifically covers endless loading, failed launches after updates, missing Programs entries, and devices that stop being detected after system updates.

- Close games and other Logitech software.
- Write down the exact symptom or error message.
- If your profiles, macros, lighting setups, or DPI settings matter, back up G HUB data before deleting anything.
- Do not delete folders while G HUB processes are still running.
- Remember that local profiles, cloud-synced profiles, and settings stored in a device’s onboard memory are not interchangeable.
1. Restart Windows
Choose Start → Power → Restart, not Shut down followed by a power-on. Restarting can release an updater or background process that still has G HUB files open. Microsoft also lists restarting among the first steps for Windows installation and removal problems in its program installation troubleshooting guidance.

After Windows starts, try G HUB once. If it still does not open, continue to the process check.
2. End stuck G HUB processes
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- In Processes or Details, find any of these entries:
LGHUB.exelghub_agent.exelghub_updater.exe
- Select each process that is present and choose End task.
- Launch G HUB again.
These are the processes identified in Logitech’s loading and logo-loop troubleshooting. Windows may display capitalization differently.
Expected result: G HUB either opens normally or produces a clearer error. If the processes immediately return and the logo continues looping, stop repeatedly killing them and use the installer-based recovery below.
3. Use Logitech’s automatic reinstall
- Download the current installer from Logitech’s G HUB support page.
- Run the installer.
- If it detects the existing damaged installation and offers Reinstall, select it.
- Allow the operation to finish, then restart Windows if requested.
This is preferable to immediately deleting folders because it is Logitech’s documented automatic recovery route and may preserve more of the existing installation. It is particularly appropriate when the failure started after an update, G HUB is missing from Windows’ installed-program list, or the app no longer detects devices after a system update.

4. Repair the installer when it will not open
If double-clicking the downloaded installer does nothing, or it reports “Unable to load basic components of the installer,” Logitech directs users toward repairing Microsoft’s Visual C++ runtime rather than treating the symptom as an ordinary G HUB launch failure.
- Remove the failed or stale G HUB installation package.
- If an old installation remains, confirm that
C:Program FilesLGHUBhas been removed as instructed by Logitech’s installer guidance. - Install or repair the current Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. Use the package appropriate for your Windows installation; Logitech’s linked x64 download may change as Microsoft updates it.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Download a fresh G HUB installer from Logitech and run it again.
See Logitech’s guidance for an installer that does not open and its instructions for the basic-components error. Visual C++ is a targeted fix for installer-opening and installer-component failures; it is not a guaranteed remedy for every G HUB runtime or logo-loop problem.
5. Perform a clean reinstall
Use this section only if restarting, stopping processes, and the automatic reinstall have failed. Manual removal can delete local profiles and cached configuration, so make a backup first.
Show hidden folders
- Open File Explorer and select This PC.
- Choose View → Options.
- Open the View tab.
- Select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, then choose Apply.
Back up G HUB data
With G HUB closed, copy any LGHUB folders and settings files you find to a separate folder, USB drive, or other safe location. Logitech’s older logo-loop article specifically names:

C:ProgramDataold.LGHUBThese instructions are not identical because paths can vary by G HUB version and installation state. Inspect both AppDataLocalLGHUB and AppDataRoamingLGHUB, along with the relevant ProgramData folders, and copy what exists. Restoring settings.db alone is not guaranteed to restore every profile, macro, or device configuration.
Remove the damaged installation
- Open Task Manager and end
LGHUB.exe,lghub_agent.exe, andlghub_updater.exeif present. - Delete the LGHUB folder under
AppDataRoaming, if present. - Delete
C:ProgramDataLGHUB, if present. - Delete
C:ProgramDataold.LGHUB, if present. - Confirm that
C:Program FilesLGHUBis gone when required by Logitech’s installer-error procedure. - Restart Windows.
If Windows says a folder is in use, stop and restart rather than forcing deletion. Verify that no G HUB process is running, then try again.
Install and test
Download a fresh installer from Logitech, install G HUB, and test that it launches and detects your hardware before copying backed-up data back. This makes it easier to tell whether restored configuration data reintroduces the problem.

6. Check Windows and security conflicts
If G HUB still fails after a clean reinstall, investigate the surrounding Windows environment:
- Install pending Windows updates.
- Temporarily test whether antivirus or endpoint-security software is blocking the installer or G HUB processes. Restore protection immediately after the test; do not leave security software disabled.
- Use a Windows clean boot to isolate a conflicting startup program or service. A clean boot is diagnostic, not a permanent operating mode; return Windows to normal startup after testing.
Microsoft’s troubleshooting guidance also documents repairing Windows system files. Open Command Prompt as administrator and run these commands in order:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannowRestart Windows after both commands complete and try G HUB again. Do not assume Windows 11 itself caused the failure: damaged update files, permissions, dependencies, security software, and G HUB regressions can produce similar symptoms.
7. When G HUB opens but does not detect a device
This is a device-connection problem rather than a launch problem. Try:

- Connect the mouse, keyboard, headset, speaker, or wheel directly to the PC instead of through a USB hub.
- Try another USB port.
- For wireless products, check the receiver, cable, battery, and pairing state.
- Install pending Windows updates and inspect Device Manager for device or driver errors.
- Test only the affected Logitech device if several peripherals are connected.
Microsoft’s mouse and keyboard troubleshooting recommends a direct USB connection when a hub may be involved. That step will not repair a G HUB process that cannot launch.
What not to do first
- Do not delete registry keys as a routine fix. Registry removal is not required by Logitech’s main documented procedure.
- Do not run every G HUB executable as administrator. Use elevation only when Windows reports an access problem or a specific step requires it.
- Do not permanently disable antivirus. Use only a brief, controlled diagnostic test.
- Do not install old G HUB builds unless Logitech directs you to one. Version pages change, and compatibility can depend on Windows and the device.
- Do not confuse G HUB with Logi Options+. Options+ is a separate application and is not a replacement for G HUB gaming features.
- Do not use the old Firmware Update Tool as a repair utility. Logitech says that tool is no longer supported or maintained.
When to contact Logitech support
Stop escalating local repairs and contact Logitech when the installer still fails after Visual C++ repair and manual reinstall, the same error persists in a clean boot, several Logitech devices fail at once, or Windows reports broader application and system-file problems. If your profiles are business-critical and the backup is uncertain, avoid further deletion until Logitech can advise on recovery.
Reinstalling or resetting Windows should be an extreme last resort, not the next step after a single failed G HUB launch.
