The reset may have exposed or changed a network problem, but the symptom alone does not establish whether the cause is Windows, Wi-Fi, OBS, the router, hardware, or the ISP.
Start by separating a Windows connection problem from an OBS stream problem
OBS Project’s Stream Connection Troubleshooting guide, dated September 30, 2024, says intermittent disconnections indicate a network issue between the computer and the remote stream ingest server. That is general guidance, not a diagnosis of a particular adapter reset or YouTube stream.
- Check ordinary internet access. On the same PC, open a few websites or use another internet-connected app. If they also fail or stall, troubleshoot Windows connectivity before changing OBS settings.
- Check OBS’s own status and logs. Note when reconnects begin and whether OBS reports dropped frames or disconnections. Avoid changing several settings together; otherwise, you will not know which change affected the symptom.
- Compare before and after one controlled change. After each change below, observe whether the stream behavior changes. A difference can narrow the problem, but does not prove a unique cause.
Check OBS network settings first
Set Bind to IP to Default
In OBS Studio, open Settings → Advanced → Network and set Bind to IP to Default. Apply the setting, then test the stream. OBS recommends this setting as a troubleshooting check.
Try the Windows network options
In the same Settings → Advanced → Network section, OBS lists Enable Network Optimizations and Enable TCP pacing as Windows troubleshooting options. Test them as individual changes so you can tell whether either affects reconnects.

OBS also suggests trying IPv4 Only if other troubleshooting has not helped. If it makes no difference, return to the default IPv4 and IPv6 setting. Do not treat an IPv4-only test as a permanent fix unless it actually improves the connection.
Use dynamic bitrate only as a mitigation
OBS’s dynamic bitrate option can lower bitrate when the connection cannot keep up. It may reduce the effect of congestion, but it does not repair the underlying connection and can reduce stream quality. Use it as a fallback while diagnosing the network, not as proof that the adapter reset is fixed.

Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If the PC is on Wi-Fi, test with Ethernet if practical. OBS recommends a wired connection for streaming because Wi-Fi may be unstable. An Ethernet cable is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix: if reconnects continue when wired, look beyond Wi-Fi rather than assuming you need new hardware.
- If the stream improves on Ethernet, investigate Wi-Fi signal, interference, router placement, or the wireless adapter.
- If Windows internet access and OBS both remain unstable on Ethernet, the cause may be elsewhere in the PC, router or modem, or ISP connection.
Reset Windows networking only after simpler checks
Microsoft documents the following commands for Windows 10 and Windows 11 connectivity problems. They are general Windows troubleshooting steps, not a verified OBS-specific remedy. Run them in an Administrator Command Prompt, in this order, then restart the PC and test connectivity again.

Microsoft’s relevant instructions are for Ethernet connection problems and Wi-Fi connection issues. If you are unsure whether a command is appropriate for your setup, use Microsoft’s guidance for your Windows version.
Reinstall the adapter driver if earlier steps fail
Microsoft also documents uninstalling the network adapter driver and restarting Windows so it can reinstall the driver. Before doing this, make sure you have a driver backup or a way to obtain the correct driver if Windows does not reinstall it automatically. For current network drivers, OBS recommends checking the PC or motherboard manufacturer.

Reserve Network reset as a last resort
Windows Network reset removes installed network adapters and their settings, then reinstalls the adapters with default settings after restart. Microsoft presents it as a last step, not the first response to OBS reconnects. A VPN client or Hyper-V virtual switch may need to be reinstalled or configured again afterward.

- Windows internet versus OBS: If other apps lose internet too, focus on Windows or the wider connection. If they work normally while OBS disconnects, continue checking OBS and the route to the ingest server.
- Wi-Fi versus Ethernet: If Ethernet changes the symptom, wireless conditions may be involved. If it does not, that does not rule out a router, driver, or ISP issue.
- One service or server versus another: OBS says testing another service can help identify a service-related difference. A difference is a clue, not conclusive proof, and does not fix a general connection problem.
- One OBS setting at a time: Compare behavior with Bind to IP set to Default and after any other individual network-setting change. Keep the setting that helps; revert changes that do not.
Common causes to check if reconnects continue
If the preceding tests do not resolve the problem, OBS identifies several possibilities outside its control. Work through them without replacing equipment on speculation:
- VPN or security software: Check whether a VPN or security product is affecting the connection. Do not leave security protections disabled as a permanent workaround.
- Bundled network utilities: Manufacturer or third-party network-management software may affect traffic. Check for relevant updates or settings.
- Outdated drivers: Check the PC or motherboard maker’s current network-driver instructions.
- Router or modem: Check the equipment and its connection if other devices or apps also have trouble.
- Faulty hardware or ISP connection: OBS notes that hardware such as cables or network cards can be involved. Consider replacement only when evidence points to a faulty component; contact your ISP if its connection checks do not resolve the issue.
