There is no verified, universal Xbox-specific crash fix for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown yet. Work through these low-risk steps in order: install every Xbox and game update, remove the game from Quick Resume, restart and power-cycle the console, test networking, try another save, then reinstall the game and add-ons. If the crash remains repeatable, report it with detailed reproduction information rather than deleting your save.
Before troubleshooting
- Note whether you have an Xbox Series X or Series S.
- Record your edition (base game, Deluxe Edition or Captain’s Collection), installed add-ons and whether you own a disc or digital copy.
- Write down the exact mission, area, menu or action that precedes the crash.
- Let Xbox cloud-save synchronization finish before uninstalling anything.
The game is officially available and optimized for Xbox Series X|S. The U.S. Xbox listing identifies Daedalic Entertainment as publisher and Gamexcite as developer: Xbox store listing.
Match the symptom to the likely test

1. Fully quit the game and remove Quick Resume
- Press the Xbox button.
- Open My games & apps and select Quick Resume.
- Highlight Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, press the controller’s Menu button, and choose Remove from Quick Resume.
- Launch the game normally from its icon.
This discards only the suspended session. It does not uninstall the game or delete saved data. A fresh launch is particularly useful after an update, add-on installation or long suspension, but Quick Resume has not been confirmed as the specific cause of this game’s crashes.

- Press Xbox, open Profile & system > Power, then choose Restart console.
- After restarting, open My games & apps > Manage > Updates and install any update for the game or its add-ons.
- Check Settings > System > Updates and apply any console update.
- Do not launch while the game is still downloading or installing.
Do not rely on a specific Xbox build number unless the console itself displays it. The available store information confirms the Xbox edition, but not a current console patch number.

3. Power-cycle the console
- Hold the physical Xbox power button for about 10 seconds, until the console turns off.
- Wait briefly, then turn it on again.
- Start the game without restoring it through Quick Resume.
A restart is quicker; a power cycle is more disruptive but can clear a stuck console or suspended-game state. General Xbox crash guidance also recommends these steps: publisher Xbox crash guidance.
4. Test Xbox networking
- Open Settings > General > Network settings.
- Choose Test network connection.
- Allow any prompted system update, then relaunch the game online.
A stable connection can allow ownership checks, cloud-save synchronization and DLC validation to complete. Do not permanently disable networking as a supposed fix; offline testing can interrupt those checks and is best used only as a controlled diagnostic after synchronization has completed. 5. Try another save or a new game
- Keep the crashing save intact.
- Load another slot, if available, or start a temporary new game.
- Repeat the action that normally causes the failure.
- If only one save fails at one location, the trigger may be save- or scenario-specific. Preserve it and report the location.
- If every save and a new game fail at the same action, the problem is more likely reproducible game software.
- If the crash started after DLC was installed, verify that the add-on is fully installed and updated. Do not remove DLC from a save that depends on it unless you understand that the save may not load without that content.
Do not choose Delete everywhere or manually erase saved data as an early troubleshooting step.

6. Reinstall the game and add-ons
- Open My games & apps > See all.
- Highlight the game, press Menu, and select Manage game and add-ons.
- Select the game and installed add-ons, then choose Uninstall all.
- Reinstall the base game and required DLC from your library.
- Wait for the complete installation and updates before launching.
Uninstalling the installation is different from deleting saved data. Confirm that cloud synchronization has finished, and never select a save-deletion option merely to reinstall. Reinstallation costs download time and storage, but can repair incomplete, corrupted or mismatched files. If the game is on an external USB drive, moving or reinstalling it to the console’s internal SSD is a reasonable isolation test; no source establishes an Across the Unknown-specific external-drive defect.

7. For visual glitches, test VRR separately
For flickering, speckling or abnormal rendering that does not end in a dashboard crash, temporarily test variable refresh rate:
- Open Settings > General > TV & display options.
- Turn off Allow variable refresh rate.
- Relaunch and check the same scene.
- Restore the setting if it makes no difference.
Community reports describe visual problems that appeared to improve with VRR disabled, but this is anecdotal and not an official crash fix: community report. Menu names and display behavior can vary by Xbox firmware and television. VRR testing does not establish a cause for dashboard crashes.

8. Compare the conditions that trigger the crash
- Base game versus DLC: note whether the failure began immediately after an add-on or expansion was installed.
- Old save versus new game: this separates a save-specific trigger from a broader title failure.
- Series X versus Series S: report the exact model; do not assume Series S hardware is responsible.
- Online versus offline: only attempt this after cloud saves are synchronized, and treat it as diagnosis rather than a permanent workaround.
Do not buy a different edition, Expansion Pass or DLC as a stability solution. The Xbox store lists multiple configurations, but none is evidenced to improve crash behavior. The Captain’s Collection has its own listing at Xbox store.

Escalate after a clean update, restart, power cycle and reinstall if the crash remains reproducible; also report it sooner if a new game fails, multiple players see the same behavior after an update, or other games crash on the console.

Include:
- Series X or Series S, region and digital or physical format.
- Edition, game version shown on Xbox and Xbox system version.
- Installed DLC or Expansion Pass content.
- Crash frequency and exact step-by-step reproduction path.
- Save slot or mission, location, menu or travel transition involved.
- Whether Quick Resume removal, restart, power cycle, network testing and reinstall changed anything.
- Error code, screenshot or video when available.
Use the official Xbox support portal for console-level issues: support.xbox.com. For a title-specific report, send the same evidence to the game’s publisher or developer.
What the published patch history proves—and what it does not

Therefore, a PC patch number cannot be used as proof that the Xbox build contains the same crash correction.
The Bottom Line
Start with a clean launch, updates, restart and power cycle; then test networking, another save and finally a reinstall. Preserve your saves, treat VRR and offline play as diagnostic tests only, and give support a precise reproduction report if the crash survives those steps.
