Dong Nguyen, creator of the original Flappy Bird, said he had no involvement in the announced revival, had not sold anything, and did not support crypto. Reports of hidden pages mentioning Solana and Web3 raised questions about the new project, but available reporting does not prove it is a scam or confirm that crypto features will launch. The project’s current availability is also unclear.
Is Dong Nguyen involved in the new Flappy Bird game?
No. In a statement reproduced by VGC on September 15, 2024, Nguyen said: “No, I have no related with their game. I did not sell anything. I also don’t support crypto.” His words are a public disavowal of the revival and a statement about what he says he did; they are not, by themselves, independent proof of the project’s legal ownership.
PC Gamer’s September 16, 2024 report said the Flappy Bird trademark had reportedly moved from Gametech Holdings to the Flappy Bird Foundation. That is a reported transfer, not a primary legal record in the available coverage. The Foundation presents the revival as an official digital game, but Nguyen’s statement makes clear that he does not endorse or participate in it.
Why are people concerned about crypto?
Europa Press reported on September 16, 2024 that cybersecurity researcher Varun Biniwale found hidden pages on the new project’s website referring to Solana and Web3. The reported wording included references to building, creating, playing, and betting.

Some will engage immediately, while others may take time to warm up. Introduce the toy slowly and observe your cat’s reaction for the best experience.
That reporting raised a legitimate question about the project’s intended features, but it did not establish that the pages described a released or finalized part of the game. Europa Press said it was unknown whether the plans had been removed, were being tested, or were intended for a future release. The reported association of Michael Roberts, a key figure connected with the Foundation and 1208 Productions, with crypto and NFTs was also noted by PC Gamer; it does not establish what the game will include.
Is the new Flappy Bird a crypto scam?
The available reports do not prove fraud. Nguyen’s rejection of the project and the reported crypto-related page language explain why some people suspect the revival may involve crypto, but suspicion is not evidence that players will be defrauded. Nor does the available reporting confirm that the project’s crypto plans will ship.

It is therefore more accurate to describe the story as a controversy over a revival Nguyen disavows and reported crypto references whose status is unknown—not as a proven scam. The Foundation’s own description presents the project as a digital game with new worlds, challenges, and characters; that description is the organization’s account, not independent confirmation of the final product.

The Flappy Bird Foundation’s official project site, accessed October 8, 2026, still displayed “COMING SOON” alongside release language referring to 2025. Because that date has passed, the page does not reliably establish whether the game is currently playable. It also does not prove the game was never released. The available information leaves both current availability and the final crypto feature plans unresolved.
