fmediaplayerview.dll is most commonly associated with Wondershare Filmora, not Windows itself. If Windows says the file is missing, not found, or could not be loaded, repair or reinstall Filmora from Wondershare rather than downloading a standalone DLL.
Public software inventories associate FMediaPlayerView.dll with Filmora installations and list it beside the Filmora executable. That association is strong, but Wondershare does not appear to publish a current DLL manifest confirming that every Filmora release contains this file. File versions, hashes, sizes, and 32-bit or 64-bit variants should therefore not be guessed.

1. Reinstall Filmora from Wondershare
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
This is the most likely fix for a missing or damaged fmediaplayerview.dll. The file may have been removed during an incomplete update, damaged by disk cleanup, left behind after an interrupted uninstall, or separated from the Filmora build that needs it.
Before uninstalling, back up Filmora projects, custom media, presets, and other assets. Do not assume every preference, cache, or project location survives removal.

- Close Filmora.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select any remaining Filmora or Wondershare processes.
- Click End task.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Wondershare Filmora.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it and choose Uninstall.
- Follow the uninstall wizard.
- Restart Windows.
- Download Filmora again from Wondershare’s official Filmora Windows download page.
- Run the installer and allow it to complete.
- Start Filmora and test the action that previously produced the error.
A normal installation should place the DLL in Filmora’s own program directory, alongside the Filmora executable. A commonly reported example is:
C:Program FilesWondershareWondershare FilmoraFMediaPlayerView.dll
Your installation may use a different folder or drive. Do not copy the file into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
If Filmora opens but reports that an update is available, use Help > Check for Update where that option exists. For an old Filmora release, replacing it with the current supported installer is safer than combining files from different releases.
How to tell it worked: Filmora starts without the DLL message, and the affected editing or playback feature works normally.

If it fails: Continue with the quarantine check below. A security product may have removed the file again immediately after installation.
2. Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Antivirus software can quarantine a file after an update or after Filmora has been repaired. Do not restore a quarantined file automatically. First confirm its location and origin.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an entry involving Filmora,
FMediaPlayerView.dll, or the installation folder. - Expand the entry and review the detected path and threat name.
- If the file is in the legitimate Filmora installation directory and the detection appears to be a false positive, update Windows Security and run a scan before making a restore decision.
- Restore or allow the file only if you have verified its provenance and are satisfied that the system is not infected.
- Reinstall Filmora afterward if the file was removed.
Microsoft warns that restoring a quarantined item can expose the device if it is genuinely malicious. The Microsoft Protection History instructions explain how to review these entries.
If the file appears in an unexpected folder, has no valid Wondershare provenance, or triggers repeated detections, do not restore it merely to suppress the startup error. Run a full Microsoft Defender scan and let the security product remove suspicious copies.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow to tell it worked: Filmora remains installed, the file stays present after a restart, and Windows Security records no new detection.
If it fails: Reinstall Filmora after updating Windows Security. If the file is quarantined again, contact Wondershare support and provide the detection name and exact file path.
3. Determine whether a dependency is missing
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that fmediaplayerview.dll itself is absent. Windows may have found the named DLL but failed to load another library that it requires.
Check the following:
- Open File Explorer.
- Navigate to the Filmora installation folder.
- Search for
fmediaplayerview.dll. - If it is present, do not download a replacement immediately.
- Note the complete path.
- Open Event Viewer by pressing Win + R, entering
eventvwr.msc, and pressing Enter. - Select Windows Logs > Application.
- Look for an error recorded at the time Filmora failed.
- Record the application name, faulting module, and error details.
- Reinstall Filmora from its official installer before installing separate runtimes.
Do not install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET as a blind first step. Add a runtime only when Filmora’s installer, its logs, or the specific error identifies that runtime as missing.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11A DLL can also be present but unusable because it is corrupted, built for a different architecture, or incompatible with the rest of the Filmora installation.
How to tell it worked: The error disappears after a complete Filmora installation, even if the original DLL was never manually replaced.
If it fails: Keep the exact message and Event Viewer entry. These details are more useful to Wondershare support than copying random DLL files.
4. Check the Filmora and Windows architecture
Time needed: 5 minutes
A 32-bit DLL and a 64-bit application are not interchangeable. Do not place a Filmora DLL in System32 or `SysWOW64 based only on its filename. Those folders have specific Windows and WOW64 behavior, and copying an unrelated third-party library there can create loading and security problems.
To check Windows:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Read System type.
- Note whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
Then check Filmora’s installer and release information. Use the installer intended for the supported Filmora build rather than mixing an older program directory with a newer DLL.
Messages such as “not designed to run on Windows” or “contains an error” can indicate a wrong architecture, damaged file, incompatible build, or incomplete installation. Reinstalling the complete application is the correct first response.

- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test Filmora again.
Microsoft explains these repairs in its System File Checker and DISM guidance.
How to tell it worked: DISM completes without an unrepaired error, SFC reports that it repaired files or found no integrity violations, and Filmora starts after the restart.
If it fails: These commands will not supply a vendor DLL. Reinstall Filmora again, then send Wondershare the Filmora version, Windows edition and build, exact error text, file path, and Event Viewer details.
Running SFC and DISM repeatedly without knowing what changed can waste time. If you prefer a guided scan that shows which Windows issues it detects before repair, Outbyte PC Repair can reduce the manual guesswork; its free scan identifies issues, while repair is handled by the full version. Reinstalling Filmora remains the definitive fix when this specific vendor DLL is missing.
6. Check for an old or incomplete Filmora removal
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If the error appears during every Windows startup after Filmora was removed, Windows may be trying to launch an orphaned Filmora entry.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Filmora and Wondershare entries.
- Uninstall any Filmora installation you no longer need.
- Open Task Manager.
- Select the Startup apps tab.
- Disable an entry clearly associated with Filmora if the program has already been removed.
- Restart Windows.
Do not reinstall Filmora solely to restore a startup component if you no longer use it. If the startup entry is unclear, record its name and file path before disabling it.
If the problem began immediately after a broader system change and normal reinstalling does not help, System Restore may be appropriate when a suitable restore point exists. Microsoft’s System Restore guidance explains what is rolled back. It normally does not remove personal files, but it can affect installed programs and system settings.

Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A graphics or media driver can affect playback, but a driver update is not the normal cure for a missing Filmora DLL. Use this step when Filmora’s error log identifies a graphics component, playback fails after a driver change, or Device Manager reports a problem.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Select Properties.
- Check the General tab for a device status error.
- Open the Driver tab and note the provider and date.
- Use Windows Update or the hardware manufacturer’s official support channel for a compatible driver.
- Restart Windows and test Filmora.
Do not use Device Manager to replace fmediaplayerview.dll; it cannot repair an application file.
Manually hunting through hardware pages and checking dozens of driver versions is slow. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers, with the free scan showing detected issues and driver installation handled by the full version; it is not required, and it cannot replace reinstalling Filmora when Filmora is the cause.
Why this error happens
The most likely causes, in order, are:
- A damaged, incomplete, or outdated Filmora installation.
- Antivirus quarantine or removal.
- A mixed Filmora build containing incompatible files.
- A missing dependency of
fmediaplayerview.dll. - Filmora being moved, restored from backup, or partially uninstalled.
- Windows component corruption affecting application startup.
- Malware or an unauthorized replacement in an unexpected directory.
The error wording helps but does not prove the cause. “Missing” usually means Windows cannot locate the file or a required dependency. “Specified module could not be found” may identify a dependency rather than the named DLL. “Not designed to run on Windows” or “contains an error” points toward corruption, architecture mismatch, or an incompatible build.
What not to do
Do not download fmediaplayerview.dll from a random DLL website. A downloaded copy may contain malware, belong to the wrong Filmora build, use the wrong architecture, or leave the actual dependency problem unresolved. It can also create DLL search-order risks when placed in a system directory.
Recommended Free Tools
Do not copy the file into System32 or SysWOW64, and do not install both 32-bit and 64-bit copies as a guess. Do not run:
regsvr32 fmediaplayerview.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose the expected self-registration entry points, commonly COM or ActiveX components. There is no evidence that this Filmora component is a self-registering COM DLL, so registration is not a standard repair and may produce a missing DllRegisterServer error. Microsoft documents the command in its regsvr32 reference.
FAQ
Is fmediaplayerview.dll part of Windows?
No credible evidence indicates that it ships with Windows. Public software inventories associate it with Wondershare Filmora. Treat it as an application component, not a Windows system file.
Which Filmora versions contain it?
Available inventories associate the file with particular Filmora releases, including Filmora 9.2 and a Filmora X installation listing. That does not prove that every Filmora release contains the same file.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Where should the file be?
Normally in Filmora’s program directory beside the Filmora executable. The exact path can vary by installer, product release, and installation drive.
Can I restore it from the Recycle Bin?
Only if you can verify that the file came from the legitimate Filmora directory and was accidentally deleted. Reinstalling Filmora is safer because it restores the application and its dependencies as a matched set.
What if reinstalling Filmora does not help?
Record the exact error, Filmora version, Windows edition and build, complete DLL path, Event Viewer entry, and antivirus detection name. Send those details to Wondershare support. If the file is in an unexpected location or Defender continues detecting it, run a full scan instead of restoring it.
Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Not automatically. Install or repair a runtime only when Filmora’s installer, event log, or a specific dependency error identifies it. The first-line repair remains an official Filmora reinstall.
