Why combat stands out
The clearest point of agreement in the surfaced review excerpts is the appeal of the combat. A Telegraph review excerpt dated February 24, 2017, praised its weight and visual impact, describing the fighting mechanics as “weighty and gratifying” and highlighting the way visuals and animation communicate the violence of medieval combat. That is one critic’s assessment, rather than a summary of every review.
Where criticism appears
Not every review was as positive about the overall package. A 2017 Destructoid excerpt raised concerns about the campaign and reported online-match crashes or disconnections, as well as concerns about mode depth. Those are historical review observations; they do not establish how stable online play is now. Recent user-review excerpts surfaced by Metacritic remain mixed, but individual user posts are anecdotal and cannot answer whether a particular platform’s matchmaking or servers are healthy today.

What kind of game is For Honor?
Ubisoft describes For Honor as a close-range melee combat game built around factions, training, and a campaign. Its official US page lists a Training Mode with training media, hero tactics, and a training arena. The campaign can be played solo or in two-player co-op. Ubisoft’s US and UK pages differ in their faction-count wording, so a complete current roster count should be checked against the live regional page rather than assumed from one description.
Is For Honor still receiving updates?
Ubisoft’s official news listing included Year 10 Season 3 material dated September 2026, including Blood Hunt content. That supports saying the game has had recent official content activity; it does not prove that matchmaking is fast, servers are reliable, the player base is large, or the game is balanced to any particular standard. The Ubisoft US Store page also listed the Standard Edition and downloadable items, including a Year 10 Season 3 battle pass and hero content. Store inventory and region-specific prices can change.

Who should consider playing it?
