Forensic evidence is taking centre stage in the New South Wales Supreme Court trial of former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, who has pleaded not guilty to the alleged murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. Crime-scene testimony has covered the Paddington home, a Cronulla skip bin and vehicles used by Lamarre-Condon. The jury has not returned a verdict in the reports available as of October 3, 2026.
What forensic evidence has the jury heard?
Lead crime-scene officer Senior Sergeant Bronwyn Lansley testified about examinations at the Paddington terrace where the alleged shootings occurred in February 2024, a skip bin at a Cronulla bowling club, and three vehicles used by Lamarre-Condon. Hundreds of crime-scene photographs were shown in court. Reports describe blood-stained clothing and possessions, bullet damage and biological material; ABC reported that DNA testing matched blood to Baird and Davies.
The bedroom door and the missing projectile
AAP reported that a bedroom-door defect was examined, but no projectile or fired bullet was found inside the bedroom and there was no mark there indicating a bullet impact. Lansley testified, “Testing indicates a bullet has exited through that side of the door.” The defence questioned the absence of a recovered projectile. AAP also reported that Lansley agreed DNA on the pistol trigger might have belonged to Davies. These are details of testimony as reported, not a complete technical report or a court finding.
Evidence beneath the house
AAP reported that officers found a tarpaulin stained with pooled blood beneath the bedroom, along with extensive staining on the underside of the flooring and supporting joists. Lansley told the jury, “Blood flowed down a joist and saturated into the timber.” Beneath the kitchen, officers recovered a bullet allegedly linked to Baird’s death, near impact damage and a small blood stain. They also used luminol, which AAP described as a chemical designed to identify blood staining.

DNA reported in two vehicles
AAP reported DNA matching both Baird and Davies in a Mazda SUV hired by Lamarre-Condon’s mother before the deaths and a Toyota Hiace Lamarre-Condon hired afterward. The DNA finding is distinct from the prosecution’s argument about why the vehicles were used: the prosecutor argued the larger vehicle suggested Lamarre-Condon needed more room after Davies’s alleged unplanned killing. That is an interpretation advanced by the prosecution, not a forensic conclusion.
What do prosecutors and the defence say happened?
The Crown’s account
The Crown alleges Lamarre-Condon entered the house armed and disguised, deliberately killed Baird, then shot Davies through the bedroom door as Davies tried to call emergency services. Prosecutors also rely on alleged disposal of belongings and the choice of vehicles in arguing intent. Those are allegations and submissions for the jury to assess.

The defence account
The defence argues the deaths were not intentional and that Lamarre-Condon acted in self-defence. It has suggested Davies was accidentally shot while he and Lamarre-Condon struggled over the service pistol outside a bedroom. The defence has characterized Lamarre-Condon’s subsequent conduct as panic rather than evidence of planned murder. Defence barrister John Stratton SC was quoted by AAP as saying, “His case was it was in self-defence.”
What does the Triple Zero call establish?
ABC reported that jurors heard a Triple Zero call from Davies’s phone and that police tried to call back twice; both calls went to voicemail. AAP reported the operator’s account: “Caller disconnected, no request, I heard a male say, ‘Eff off’, call dropped out.” The excerpt does not identify the speaker, and the reporting does not establish the speaker’s identity from those words alone.

Yes. AAP and ABC reports published on October 2, 2026 described the Supreme Court trial as continuing. AAP said a third week of hearings was due to begin the following Tuesday; the subsequent schedule is not established by the reports cited here. Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty. The reports do not provide a complete transcript, full expert-evidence record or verdict, so the testimony and competing accounts described here should not be treated as final findings.
