Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked reshaped the island’s southern, bottom-middle area into a wasteland biome. The four new named locations were Redline Rig, Brutal Beachhead, Nitrodrome and Sandy Steppes; the rest of the island was not replaced. This is the 2024 season map, not a claim about Fortnite’s current map.
What changed on the Wrecked map?
Epic Games announced Wrecked on May 24, 2024, describing how “A ferocious sandstorm recently moved over the Island, creating a new biome in the south dubbed the wasteland.” The changes were concentrated in the island’s bottom-middle section, according to a contemporaneous map guide from The Escapist. The guide also reported that the island’s four mythology-themed POIs remained.
That made Wrecked a focused southern overhaul rather than a wholesale replacement of the Chapter 5 island. Neither source quantifies how much land changed.

These descriptions and character associations come from Epic’s official Wrecked announcement. Epic spells the car-arena location “Nitrodrome”; The Escapist’s guide spells it “Nitrodome.”

How the locations fit together
The new POIs gave the southern biome distinct functions: an industrial refinery at Redline Rig, a faction base at Brutal Beachhead, and a vehicle-focused arena at Nitrodrome. Sandy Steppes was the renamed remnant of Snooty Steppes. Epic tied the locations to the season’s Wasteland Warriors and car-centered theme, while the broader island retained its mythology-themed POIs.
Wrecked’s vehicle theme beyond the map
The map reveal came alongside vehicle-focused mechanics and equipment. Epic’s announcement noted the return of Cow Catchers and Chonkers Off-Road Tires, as well as new Machine Gun Turret, Grenade Launcher Turret, Spiked Bumper and Bulletproof Tires. These additions reinforced the season’s vehicle emphasis, but they are gameplay features rather than additional map locations.

When was the Wrecked map playable?
Wrecked was a 2024 season. Epic later updated its announcement to state that the season and its Battle Pass would end on August 15, 2024, at 11 PM ET. The cited sources document that historical season and map; they do not establish that the Wrecked map is currently playable in any Fortnite mode.
