A December 22, 2023 report described two separate Fortnite problems: stuttering or visual and collision issues while gliding, and Survivor Quest XP or progress that failed to register. The report reflects player complaints during the first Chapter 5 update period; it does not establish that either issue is still active or that Epic has since fixed it.
What players reported
Glider stutter, visual glitches, and blocked movement
PiunikaWeb reported frame drops and graphical glitches associated with gliding. It also reproduced a community post describing an invisible-wall-like obstruction near large snowy mountains, where the player could not move forward or land on a mountaintop. The post said the problem began with the first Chapter 5 update and that the poster encountered it on Xbox Series X while a friend encountered it on PC. This is an individual anecdote reproduced by the report, not a verified diagnosis across platforms or a measure of how many players were affected. PiunikaWeb’s December 22, 2023 report

Survivor Quest XP or progress not registering
The same-day report also described players who said they were not receiving XP or seeing progress on Survivor challenges, leaving them unable to advance toward medals. It said Epic was aware at the time, but did not give a fix date. The report described quest requirements involving placement and eliminations and listed medal tiers and stages, but that older secondary-source information should not be treated as confirmation of today’s in-game names or progression rules. Is either bug fixed now?
The available reports do not establish the current status of either bug, and they do not provide a dated, bug-specific Epic resolution notice. Epic’s public status page showed Fortnite services operational when checked, but normal service health does not confirm that a particular gameplay bug has been fixed. Check Epic’s public status page, FortniteStatus on X, the Fortnite community known-issues forum, and Fortnite News for current notices. Epic’s live-issues guidance points players to these channels.

What to do if you encounter the symptoms
For glider stutter or obstruction
- Check Epic’s current issue channels for a notice or workaround before changing settings.
- Record the date, platform, game version, mode, location, and what happens. Note whether the problem repeats; this helps distinguish a reproducible gameplay issue from a one-off event.
- On console, Epic’s general troubleshooting guidance recommends checking for Fortnite and platform updates. It also lists clearing the platform cache, reinstalling Fortnite, and power cycling the console as general options. Epic does not identify these steps as confirmed fixes for the reported glider obstruction or stutter. Epic’s console troubleshooting guidance
For missing Survivor Quest progress
- Check the current quest and medal objectives in-game rather than relying on the 2023 report’s descriptions.
- Note the specific objective, match, platform, and whether XP or objective progress is missing. Check official issue channels for a current workaround or fix notice.
- The cited sources do not establish that reinstalling, clearing cache, or another console troubleshooting step restores missing quest progress. Avoid treating those general maintenance steps as a confirmed remedy for this issue.
What the 2023 report does—and does not—show
The complaints were reported during the first Chapter 5 update period, and the reported glider symptoms and Survivor Quest progression problem are distinct issues. The available material does not establish prevalence, a controlled platform comparison, current reproducibility, or a present-day resolution. Epic’s general guidance notes that Fortnite updates may include fixes: “Fortnite is constantly updated with bug fixes that may resolve your issue(s).” That is general advice, not confirmation that these particular reports were addressed.
