Its launch-day weapon list is a dated Season 1 snapshot—not a confirmed list of what is in the live loot pool today.
When did Fortnite OG launch?
Epic announced Fortnite OG’s return on December 5, 2024, and the always-available mode launched the next day. Epic said it was bringing back the original Battle Royale map that debuted in 2017, with Chapter 1’s early seasons recreated over time through changes to the island and loot. Epic’s December 5, 2024 announcement described the mode as returning “and always on, every day.”

This was not the same release as the 2023 Fortnite OG event. That earlier event ran within Chapter 4 Season OG and moved through Chapter 1 eras in a limited-time schedule. Epic’s November 3, 2023 announcement described that event and its successive updates.

Is Fortnite OG still available?
Yes. Epic’s official Fortnite OG island page describes the Chapter 1 experience, and the official update feed includes a v42.30 item referring to Tilted Town and returning weapons. That confirms ongoing updates, but the page excerpt does not provide a complete live weapon inventory or establish every currently active playlist. Check the in-game mode and the latest official notes for what is available now.

What modes can you play?
At launch, Epic listed Solos, Squads, and Zero Build. The mode’s options reflect two different ways to play: the standard build experience and a version that removes building mechanics.
Build
Build keeps Fortnite’s building mechanics. Epic’s launch description also retained several modern quality-of-life features, including sprinting, sliding, mantling, door bashing, and moving while healing. These were launch-era details, not a promise that every setting remains unchanged.

Zero Build
Zero Build removes building mechanics. Epic said ziplines and ascenders were added to help players reach elevated areas without building. Its official OG island page also describes the Zero Build option.
Other launch-era settings included Reboot Vans, sniper-scope glare, a 999 maximum building-resource cap, and double pump enabled “for now.” Those details describe the launch announcement and should not be assumed to match current settings.

What was in the original Fortnite OG loot pool?
Epic said the opening loot pool matched day one of Chapter 1 Season 1 in the original Battle Royale, with more items to be unvaulted as that season progressed. Some additions were announced as planned for later in a season, rather than live immediately. The examples above are historical update notes; they do not establish the complete current pool.

- Open Fortnite and select the Battle Royale mode-selection screen.
- Choose Fortnite OG and review the available playlist options.
- For current weapon changes, check Epic’s latest official Fortnite OG update notes. The OG island page and its surfaced v42.30 feed item show continuing updates, but the available page text does not list every live weapon.
That distinction matters because “Fortnite OG weapons” can mean either the original day-one Season 1 selection or the changing pool in the active OG season. Use the launch list when asking what returned at the mode’s debut; use current in-game information and current patch notes for today’s inventory.
