Epic acknowledged in April 2022 that physics on some Fortnite Outfits had stopped working properly after the v20.20 update. A maintenance patch released April 26 was intended to address Outfit physics, but Epic’s announcement does not confirm that every affected Outfit was fixed—and the available evidence does not establish the issue’s status today.
What went wrong after Fortnite v20.20?
After Fortnite v20.20 arrived in April 2022, players reported that some Outfit elements—including hair, clothing, capes and accessories—no longer moved as expected. Community posts named Jules, Rue, Wonder Woman, LoserFruit, Cammy, Foundation and Chloe Frazer as examples. Those are player reports, not an official or complete list of affected Outfits.
On April 22, 2022, a community post relayed Epic’s statement: “We’re investigating an issue with some physics no longer functioning properly on several Outfits as of v20.20. We’ll provide an update when we have more info.” Epic’s wording confirmed an issue affecting some physics on several Outfits, without identifying every affected cosmetic.
Did Epic release a fix?
On April 26, 2022, another community post relayed Epic’s notice: “We’ve just released a maintenance patch on all platforms to address stability and Outfits physics issues. You will be able to download the patch before launching your game.” The notice says the patch was intended to address Outfit physics; it does not demonstrate that every reported case was resolved.

Epic’s official Fortnite Creative v20.20 release notes cover Creative features and known issues. They do not document the Battle Royale Outfit physics problem or establish its resolution, so their silence should not be read as confirmation that the bug was fixed—or that it remained.

- Check the specific Outfit in-game. Look at the cosmetic element that appears affected, such as hair or a cape. The 2022 reports do not establish the status of every Outfit now.
- Separate physics behavior from other visual bugs. Texture warping or loading problems, and an Outfit obstructing aim, are distinct issues from the v20.20 physics reports. Epic’s current support pages discuss some of those separate problems; they do not settle the status of the 2022 defect.
- Report a reproducible current problem through Epic’s current channels. Epic’s support guidance for aim obstruction recommends submitting an in-game bug report. Use the applicable current support or reporting route for the issue you are actually seeing, and describe the Outfit and the behavior.
- Check Fortnite Status or Epic’s current support information for updates. Old patch notices are not a reliable guarantee about an Outfit’s present behavior.
This was described as a game-side issue, and Epic announced a game maintenance patch to address it. There is no supported basis for buying a physical product as a remedy.
