If Fortnite says a Winterfest present is still available after you have opened all the gifts you can see, the notification may be stale rather than proof that another gift is waiting. A matching extra-present notification was documented during Winterfest 2021, but that historical report cannot confirm what is happening on your account now. Check Epic’s current notices and support guidance before treating the alert as a guaranteed fixable bug or an unclaimed reward.
Why can the notification remain after every present is opened?
A remaining alert does not necessarily mean there is another visible present to open. During the 2021 Winterfest event, players reported an extra-present notification after opening the available gifts. GamesRadar reported that FortniteStatus addressed the issue on December 29, 2021, saying: “Already opened all your presents but still see one extra present left to open? Sit tight, we’re working on that.” GamesRadar+’s report is evidence that this symptom occurred in that event, not proof that the same bug is affecting later events or that Epic has diagnosed your account.

Player accounts also describe a gift appearing available after the others have been opened, but those anecdotes do not establish a cause or a reliable workaround. The available official information does not verify that restarting Fortnite, entering a match, or simply waiting will clear a current notification.
Check the rules for the Winterfest year you are playing
Winterfest gift counts and unlock conditions are event-specific. For example, Epic’s Winterfest 2025 announcement specified 14 presents, with one present available each day. It said the Glacial Dummy Outfit unlocks after opening seven other presents, while the Cheeks Outfit unlocks after opening 13. Those are rules for the 2025 event only; they do not establish the gift count or unlock requirements for another year, or whether your account has claimed every reward.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
Use the announcement for the event year shown in your game, if available, rather than applying an older or newer event’s count to the cabin you are seeing. A cosmetic unlock threshold and a present notification are also different things: the threshold describes when an outfit becomes available, not the diagnosis of a leftover alert.

Rank #4
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

What to do about a current Winterfest alert
- Confirm what the cabin actually shows. Check the available presents and the event information for the correct Winterfest year. Do not infer that an extra gift exists solely from the notification.
- Look for a current Epic notice. Visit Fortnite News and Epic’s “Where are my Winterfest gifts?” support topic. These are appropriate places to check for event-specific guidance, though the cited information does not provide a universal workaround for a notification that remains after all visible presents are opened.
- If there is no matching notice and the issue persists, use Epic Support. Describe the platform, the Winterfest year, what the cabin shows, and which presents or rewards appear claimed. Epic’s live-issues page directs players to public status and Fortnite news resources. Account-specific help is more appropriate than assuming a community-reported workaround will work for everyone.
What the evidence does—and does not—show
- Documented: An extra-present notification after opening the available gifts was reported during Winterfest 2021, and FortniteStatus said it was working on the issue at that time.
- Not established: The 2021 report does not identify a confirmed cause, prove that the same issue has recurred, or confirm a fix for a current account.
- Not a guaranteed remedy: Community reports and generic suggestions such as restarting or waiting do not amount to an official, universal fix.
