The Fortnite x Star Wars crossover launched on May 3, 2024, alongside Fortnite version 29.40. Announced on April 15, it brought Star Wars content to four Fortnite experiences: LEGO Fortnite, Battle Royale, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. The date put the release just ahead of Star Wars Day on May 4.
When did Star Wars come to Fortnite?
The collaboration was announced on April 15, 2024, and released May 3 with Fortnite v29.40. StarWars.com previewed the LEGO Fortnite content on May 1. Fortnite’s official launch announcement described Battle Royale quests arriving in two phases, on May 3 and May 7; that timing is also reflected in its indexed announcement. StarWars.com called it the biggest Fortnite | Star Wars collaboration up to that point—a description of the 2024 announcement, not a claim about what is biggest today. StarWars.com’s launch coverage confirms the release date and participating modes.
What was in the crossover?
The update spanned four modes, with different activities in each:
| Fortnite experience | What the 2024 collaboration included |
|---|---|
| LEGO Fortnite | Rebel survival and village-building, combat with Imperial forces, Star Wars weapons, and LEGO Pass quests and rewards. |
| Battle Royale | Star Wars outfits and quests released in phases. |
| Fortnite Festival | A Jam Stage inspired by the Mos Eisley Cantina. |
| Rocket Racing | Quests that could unlock Anakin’s Podracer and Darth Maul decals. |
LEGO Fortnite: build a Rebel village and fight the Empire
The LEGO Fortnite update focused on helping Rebel allies survive. Players could build a village, confront Imperial soldiers and Stormtroopers, and use Star Wars weapons. The featured arsenal included a lightsaber, Thermal Detonators, E-11 Blasters, and Bowcasters. StarWars.com’s May 1 preview outlined the update and its LEGO Pass.
