Fortnitemares 2026 is Fortnite’s Halloween event across Battle Royale, Horde Rush, and Reload. Epic’s October 1 announcement confirms Freddy Krueger and a new Nightmare Neighborhood location, returning and new weapons, cursed gameplay effects, animatronic boss encounters, and an updated Reload map. Epic has not stated the event’s end date or published a complete 2026 quest and reward schedule in that announcement.
What is Fortnitemares?
Fortnitemares is Fortnite’s seasonal Halloween event. Each year brings a different mix of modes, map changes, gameplay items, quests, rewards, and horror-franchise collaborations, so details from earlier editions do not automatically apply to the current one.
What’s new in Fortnitemares 2026?
Epic says the 2026 event spans Battle Royale, Horde Rush, and Reload, with new character collaborations arriving throughout October. Its October 1 announcement names Five Nights at Freddy’s, Hazbin Hotel, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, Obsession, and other collaborations. Battle Royale: Freddy Krueger and new combat options
In Battle Royale, players can visit Freaky Fields or the new Nightmare Neighborhood POI, where Freddy Krueger is waiting. Defeating him awards Freddy’s Nightmare, an item that lets players teleport into range and slash opponents.

The announcement also names the Bonerattler SMG and the returning Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher. Cursed cartridge Overrides can grant effects such as sprint invisibility or squad concealment. Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic bosses also appear; players can possess them.
Horde Rush
Horde Rush returns for Fortnitemares 2026. Epic’s announcement confirms the mode’s return but does not give further mode-specific rules or a separate schedule in the opened announcement.
Reload: updated Nitemare Island
Epic announced that updated Nitemare Island arrives in Reload on October 8, 2026, alongside the Stranger Things and Squid Grounds maps.
Horror outfits and collaborations
Five Nights at Freddy’s outfits with battle damage were already in the Shop when Epic published its October 1 announcement. The post also lists additional outfits and accessories due throughout October for A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, The Purge, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands, and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. The announcement does not provide a complete release calendar, so check the current Shop and official Fortnite updates for availability.

Epic’s October 1, 2026 announcement does not state an end date. It also does not provide a complete schedule of releases, quests, or reward milestones. Check Fortnite’s current official news and in-game information for updates rather than relying on dates from an earlier Fortnitemares.

How do you find and complete Fortnite quests?
Epic’s general quest guidance applies across Fortnite experiences; it does not confirm any particular Fortnitemares 2026 quest. To find the quests currently available to you:
- Launch a Fortnite experience.
- From the lobby, open Quests.
- Review the available quests, then play the experience and complete their stated objectives.
Quests usually reward XP, level-ups, or cosmetic items, and different Fortnite experiences have different quests. See Epic’s quest instructions for its general guidance.

What if you miss an event quest or item?
Epic Support says expired limited-time events or quests cannot be extended, though some previous events might return. That is not a guarantee that a specific Fortnitemares quest or reward will come back.
