It is not the same as a Treasure Car: those are abandoned vehicles found by exploring and interpreting a supplied photograph. Check the current Festival Playlist tile for the seasonal clue and region; old chest-location guides describe past events, not a permanent route.
Seasonal Treasure Hunts and Treasure Cars are different activities

The distinction matters when searching for a “Treasure Hunt location”: a seasonal chest is tied to the live playlist event, while a Treasure Car is a vehicle-discovery activity. Forza’s official explanation names vehicles such as the 1991 Nissan Figaro, 1985 Nissan Safari Turbo and 1969 Dodge Charger R/T as examples of Treasure Cars. Forza’s Treasure Car explanation describes using the photo clues to find them.
How to solve a seasonal Treasure Hunt clue
- Open the current Festival Playlist. Select the Treasure Hunt event tile and read its clue and region. The active tile—not a walkthrough for an older week—is the starting point for the current chest.
- Use both the clue and the region. Search for a place or landmark matching the clue within the named region. A region narrows the search area; it is not itself a precise chest location.
- Follow the event’s stated challenge. The clue and any requirements can change. Do not assume every hunt uses the same number of stages, requires a particular car, or follows a fixed challenge sequence.
- Find and smash the chest. Once you reach the target chest, drive into it to collect the event’s reward.
- Check the playlist for progress. The live event tile is the reference for its current contribution to Festival Playlist progress and any associated thresholds or prizes.
A dated example shows why old routes should not be treated as current instructions. PC Gamer’s September 24, 2026 guide described a Shimanoyama chest beside a winding snowy road in the south of the region and instructed players to smash it. That clue and location illustrate the regional search, but apply to that event, not every Treasure Hunt. PC Gamer’s Shimanoyama walkthrough is event-specific.
What rewards do you get?
Rewards depend on the event. For the Shimanoyama Treasure Hunt covered by PC Gamer on September 24, 2026, the reported chest reward was 100,000 credits, 5,000 XP and three Season Progress points. Those figures describe that one dated event; they are not a guaranteed reward schedule for other hunts. Check the current Festival Playlist for the active event’s contribution and prize context.

Does the Treasure Map help find the current seasonal chest?
No. The Xbox Store listing says the optional Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Map reveals locations for Bonus Boards, Barn Finds, Regional Mascots, Treasure Chests and Treasure Cars in the main game and expansions once available. However, it explicitly excludes playlist seasonal collectibles: “Please note this Treasure Map will not reveal the locations of Seasonal Collectables featured in the Festival Playlist.” That makes it unsuitable as a shortcut to the current seasonal chest. Some collectibles unlock through gameplay and may not appear immediately. The listing says the add-on requires Forza Horizon 6 or an eligible Game Pass subscription, sold separately. Forza’s achievement listing tracks “A Fine Addition To My Collection” for discovering and claiming one Treasure Car, and “Treasure Hunter” for discovering and claiming nine Treasure Cars. These milestones concern vehicle discoveries, not the number of seasonal chests you have completed. The same listing says the game has 57 achievements at launch, obtainable on Xbox and Steam. Forza’s achievement list provides the achievement wording.
