To solve the Fountain of Confession in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, open the dragon mechanism, complete the water-transfer and boat-path puzzles, then move the remaining statue to open the underground passage. The fountain is in the Vatican Gardens and is part of “The Stolen Cat Mummy.”
When you can access the Fountain of Confession
The fountain becomes available after Indy retrieves a parchment from Augur the Giant’s tomb in the Necropolis and delivers it to Antonio during “The Stolen Cat Mummy,” according to Game8’s Fountain of Confession guide. Solving it opens an underground route leading to the Silver Path Trial and Gold Path Trial, as noted in Game8’s Vatican City walkthrough.
Open the dragon mechanism

Take the Fountain Gate Key from the chest beside the fountain and unlock the gated area.

Climb to the dragon mechanism. Find and fit the dragon piece, then turn the dragon arms or statues until they face each other.

Use the whip on the revealed ring or mechanism to expose the rotating fountain puzzle. The walkthroughs describe the mechanism differently, so follow the on-screen prompt and look for the rotating relief to appear. See the steps in PCGamesN’s puzzle solution and Game8’s guide.
Solve the water-transfer puzzle
Start with the water side if you want the more straightforward half first; Game8 recommends tackling it before the boat puzzle.

Position the figures so the man’s bucket pours into the receiving figure’s bowl. The guides call the smaller figure a boy, child, or statue; the goal is the same: get water from the man’s bucket to the bowl.
Align the boat path

Rotate the rings until the slotted wooden pieces form a continuous path across the relief, aligning the route from left to right.

Use the whip on the overhead lever or levers to move the boat along the completed path across the wall relief.
If the boat does not cross, check that the wooden sections connect continuously before activating the lever again. The goal is a traversable path, not simply moving the rings into a particular-looking arrangement.

Once both the water and boat sides are complete, move the remaining statue into the correct position at the gate. This opens the gate and the stairs or route below it. The underground passage leads onward to the Silver Path Trial and Gold Path Trial.
Want hints instead of a full solution?
You can use Indy’s camera for puzzle hints before following a spoiler walkthrough. TrueAchievements’ Vatican walkthrough notes that the camera can provide assistance. If its wording differs from a guide, use the visible objectives: water must reach the receiving figure, the boat must cross the relief, and the final statue must move into position at the gate.
