FramePort lets Steam Frame owners install user-supplied Quest games and other apps, but compatibility is title-specific. Its current tested-games list marks six Quest titles as not running: three are listed as 32-bit-only, while the other three are attributed to graphics-driver crashes or a GPU hang. FramePort’s list is a community project snapshot, not a Valve certification or a promise that every Quest game will work.
Can you play Quest games on Steam Frame?
Yes, some Quest games can run locally on Steam Frame through FramePort, an independent desktop app for installing Meta Quest, Android, and PC VR apps. For Quest games, the project describes translating APKs to OpenXR with OVRPort, applying compatibility patches, and running them inside Valve’s Android runtime, Lepton. Whether a particular game works depends on its edition, software version, and any needed patch; owning a Quest title does not by itself guarantee a working Steam Frame copy.
FramePort is not a game store. It handles transferring game files, setup, compatibility patches, and Steam library shortcuts, but says it does not download, share, or unlock games. Users must supply legally obtained game executables. See the FramePort project repository for its description of the app and requirements.
Which Quest games does FramePort say don’t work?
FramePort’s tested-games table currently labels these six entries “Doesn’t run.” The reasons below are the project’s own reported diagnoses, not independently confirmed findings.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Quest title | FramePort’s listed reason |
|---|---|
| Espire 1: VR Operative (Quest Edition) | Mesa GL driver crash during texture upload. |
| HITMAN 3 VR: Reloaded | Vulkan driver crash identified as freedreno, including without Valve layers. |
| Journey of the Gods | Listed as 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame does not support AArch32. |
| Shadow Point | Listed as 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame does not support AArch32. |
| Sniper Elite VR | GPU hang reported as “zink: DEVICE LOST,” even with MSAA off. |
| Sports Scramble (Santa Cruz) | Listed as 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame does not support AArch32. |
These are entries in FramePort’s changeable tested-games list, not a definitive list of every title that cannot run. The list also includes games marked working or working with issues, and its introduction says unlisted games may work. Check the live tested-games list for the status of a title and edition before relying on it.
Why might a Quest game fail to launch?
32-bit architecture requirements
Three titles in the list—Journey of the Gods, Shadow Point, and Sports Scramble (Santa Cruz)—are described by FramePort as 32-bit-only. The project says Steam Frame lacks AArch32 support, so a patch cannot necessarily overcome a requirement for an unsupported processor architecture.

Graphics-driver or game-specific failures
The other listed problems involve graphics support: Mesa GL crashes for Espire 1, a freedreno Vulkan crash for HITMAN 3 VR: Reloaded, and a reported Zink device-lost GPU hang for Sniper Elite VR. Those descriptions identify the failure class FramePort observed; they do not establish that every build, patch, or future software version will fail in the same way.
How does FramePort differ from Valve’s Steam Frame compatibility review?
FramePort’s list is a community-maintained, game-by-game report about apps installed through its project. Valve’s official Steam Frame review uses the labels Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown, and considers factors such as performance, display legibility, controller use, and compatibility with the software and hardware stack. Valve says its standalone compatibility review applies to games running locally, not games streamed from a PC. The two systems describe different things and should not be treated as interchangeable. See Valve’s Steam Frame compatibility documentation and its compatibility review process.

Is local play the same as streaming PC VR?
No. A Quest APK installed through FramePort runs locally on the headset through the Android/OpenXR route described by the project. PC VR has separate options: FramePort’s guide describes experimental Proton execution on the headset or streaming from a Windows PC; Oculus-only PC games may involve Revive. A game’s behavior in one path does not establish that it works in another, and Valve’s standalone review does not cover streamed games. FramePort outlines these distinctions in its compatibility guide.

What to check before trying a game
- Look up the exact title and edition in FramePort’s tested-games list; similar editions may not share a status.
- Note whether the entry says working, working with issues, or doesn’t run, and read the project’s stated reason.
- Identify the route you intend to use: local Quest APK, local PC VR through experimental Proton, or PC streaming. They are distinct execution paths.
- Use game files you obtained legally. FramePort says it does not distribute or unlock them.
- Remember that unlisted titles are untested or not listed, rather than proven incompatible. FramePort’s maintainer has also cautioned that the project cannot test every app; its catalog and software may change.
