Free Fire MAX’s OB48 patch introduced MyZone, the new character Oscar, a guild-name Gloo Wall perk, and a wider set of gameplay and settings changes. Garena’s English regional patch page is dated 19 February 2025; its Vietnamese official listing dates the OB48 article to 26 February 2025. Those are regional publication dates, not a verified worldwide rollout timestamp.
What’s new in Free Fire MAX OB48?
The update’s biggest additions are a match event that lets players buy and vote on gameplay effects, Oscar’s Gloo Wall-breaking dash, and a limited-time Gloo Wall skin tied to a guild’s name. OB48 also adjusts inventory capacity and item weights, character and weapon balance, Lone Wolf, Clash Squad, and game settings. Garena’s English regional patch notes describe the changes; the Vietnamese official listing provides a separate regional date.

How does the MyZone event work?
In Battle Royale, Garena describes 12 Tech Workshops on each map. Interact with a workshop to see three randomly offered Tech Artifacts, then spend FF Coins to build one. The patch lists these examples:
- Hypercrate: Costs 600 FF Coins and takes 50 seconds to open.
- Mushroom Generator: Costs 200 FF Coins and produces Cyber Mushrooms. One example, the Wealth Mushroom, gives the player who interacts with it 200 FF Coins.
- Super Radar: Costs 400 FF Coins; scans within 200 meters, marks enemies on the minimap for five seconds, and has a 50-second cooldown.
Players can also vote to unlock additional artifacts or effects, making the event a way to influence match conditions as well as spend collected currency.

MyZone in Clash Squad
In Clash Squad, MyZone changes Cyber Airdrops into Hypercrate Drops. Garena says these drops have a larger capture area and more cover; players can also vote on event gameplay elements. The Battle Royale workshop-and-artifact system and the Clash Squad drop changes are distinct implementations of the event.
What does Oscar’s ability do?
Oscar, introduced as the “Night Vigilante,” has the ability Valiant Dash. He dashes toward the target direction. The dash detonates the first three Gloo Walls in its path, dealing 25 damage to each, and deals 25 damage plus knockback to enemies he encounters. The listed cooldown is 60 seconds. These are the mechanics stated in Garena’s patch notes, not a claim about Oscar’s competitive strength.

OB48 also revises guild administration and participation:

How did OB48 change inventory capacity?
Backpack capacity increases by level, but ammunition and throwable weights also rise. The capacity figures below are the before-and-after values in Garena’s patch notes; they should not be read as an unqualified inventory buff because item weights changed too.

What else changed in gameplay and settings?
Modes and maps
Lone Wolf receives in-group duels and revised map layouts. In Clash Squad, the MyZone changes affect airdrops as described above.
Character and weapon balance
Character adjustments cover Xayne, Shani, Luqueta, Antonio, Koda, Wolfrahh, Lila, and Nikita; Ignis is reworked. Weapon updates affect several categories, including sniper rifles, the Thompson, pistols, Charge Buster, and explosion-related items. Garena’s notes enumerate the balance changes, but the headline summary does not establish that any one character or weapon is universally stronger.

Is OB48 the current Free Fire MAX version?
No. OB48 is a historical update from 2025, not a current-version label. Apple’s Free Fire MAX version history summarizes the OB48-era release with MyZone, device-item changes, Lone Wolf changes, and Oscar, and also lists later releases. The version-history page is useful for context, while Garena’s patch notes provide the detailed OB48 mechanics.
