Mojang’s free A Minecraft Movie DLC was a Bedrock Edition Marketplace experience built around film scenes and three arcade activities: elytra races, surviving the night, and sneaking through a woodland mansion. Mojang listed the promotion as available through December 31, 2025; that date has passed, so access in 2026 is unconfirmed.
What the Minecraft movie DLC included
The content recreated moments from the 2025 film and was designed for play with friends. Its arcade section contained three distinct activities rather than one continuous campaign.

Is the free DLC still available?
Probably not as a guaranteed promotion. Mojang’s notices dated April 4, 2025, and May 13, 2025, said the DLC, its add-on and the related skin pack were available on Minecraft Marketplace until December 31, 2025. That deadline has passed. Mojang has not established in the supplied notices that the item remains downloadable afterward, so any listing or ownership in your account must be checked directly in Bedrock Marketplace.

What to check now
- Open Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and sign in with the Microsoft account that would own the content.
- Search the Marketplace for the movie DLC or inspect your account’s owned content and purchase history.
- If it does not appear as owned or available, do not assume the Java Edition launcher, a different account, or another region will unlock it.
Which Minecraft edition and services are required?
The stated prerequisite was Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, sold separately. Java Edition by itself does not satisfy that requirement. The official notice also required Internet access and a valid Microsoft account.
- Edition: Bedrock Edition.
- Account: A valid Microsoft account.
- Connection: Internet access.
- Possible platform limits: Country and geography restrictions, balance and tax rules, platform-specific online-subscription requirements, and Internet connection fees could apply.
Because Marketplace rules and online-subscription policies differ by platform and country, an item’s visibility can vary even when the same promotion was advertised elsewhere.

How the three games differ
Elytra race
This is the movement-focused event: players fly through a race course with elytra and compete for position. It is the closest of the three activities to a conventional timed arcade challenge.

This mode turns nighttime into the objective. Players must withstand hostile mobs rather than simply reach a finish line, making awareness, movement and cooperation central to the challenge.

Woodland mansion mission
The mansion activity is a stealth scenario. The goal is to sneak through the building while avoiding threats, giving the DLC a different pace from the aerial race and open combat survival activity.
What was separate from the arcade DLC?
Mojang’s launch announcement also promoted other movie-themed items. These were related tie-ins, not additional arcade games:

- A movie add-on centered on fighting piglins.
- A Lava Chicken add-on.
- A Hero Pack containing character-inspired skins.
The announcement identified Warner Bros. Pictures as Minecraft’s movie-content partner. Owning one of these add-ons or the Hero Pack would not, by itself, prove that the three-activity arcade DLC was available.

What “free” meant
The DLC was described as free on Minecraft Marketplace, but Minecraft: Bedrock Edition was a separately sold prerequisite. Internet access, a Microsoft account and any platform-required online subscription or connection charges could still be necessary. “Free” therefore referred to the promotional Marketplace content, not to the base game or every service needed to play online.

The movie promotion’s defining feature was a Bedrock-only arcade world with three activities: elytra racing, surviving a mob-filled night and stealth in a woodland mansion. Since Mojang’s stated availability window ended on December 31, 2025, current access is not confirmed; check Bedrock Marketplace with the correct Microsoft account and region rather than relying on old promotional listings.
