They are samples, not a promise that the full games are free. The catalog can vary by country and change over time, so check your local PlayStation Store listing before downloading.
Which PS VR2 demos can you try for free?
PlayStation groups these under “Try these free PS VR2 demos.” The genre labels below are PlayStation’s, and each entry is a demo of its associated experience—not necessarily a complete free game. See PlayStation’s US PS VR2 games page.
| Demo | PlayStation genre |
|---|---|
| Resident Evil 4 VR Mode | Horror |
| Horizon Call of the Mountain | Action |
| Resident Evil Village: VR Mode | Action |
| Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge | Adventure |
| Cosmonious High | Adventure |
| Song in the Smoke: Rekindled | Adventure |
| Puzzling Places | Puzzle |
| C-Smash VRS | Sport |
| Subside | Simulator |
Choose by the kind of experience you want: horror, action, adventure, puzzles, sport, or simulation. PlayStation’s featured page does not give demo durations, so consult each Store listing for details rather than assuming a particular playtime or amount of content.
How to check availability in your region
- Open the PS VR2 Demos category in the US PlayStation Store, or browse the PS VR2 demo category in your own region’s Store.
- Open the individual title’s listing and confirm it is available for your account’s region and that the item is a demo.
- Check the listing for any title-specific requirements, including online play or supported controllers, before downloading.
The linked category is US-specific, and catalog availability is region-dependent. A listing’s presence on PlayStation’s current US page does not establish availability everywhere or what appeared in the Store during 2025.

What you need to play PS VR2 titles
PS VR2 games require the PS VR2 headset and compatible controls: typically the PS VR2 Sense controllers, and in some cases a DualSense controller. Original PS VR games are a separate setup: on PS5, they require the original PS VR headset and PlayStation Camera adapter. An original PS VR title is not made compatible with the PS VR2 headset simply because both systems run on PlayStation.
Does a free demo require PlayStation Plus?
Not necessarily, but a zero-price demo does not automatically qualify as a free-to-play game. PlayStation’s FAQ says: “In most cases yes, a PlayStation Plus membership is required to play games online, with the exception of free-to-play games which do not require PlayStation Plus.” Check the specific game’s Store listing for its online features and membership requirements.

Is this a 2025 list?
No historical 2025 catalog is established here. PlayStation’s US games page, checked on October 8, 2026, currently features the nine demos above; its catalog and FAQ can change. For a current download decision, rely on the listing in your own regional Store rather than treating this as a verified snapshot of what was available in 2025.
