Update, October 7, 2026: The UK PlayStation Store listing for Mafia III has been pulled while Sony addresses an issue that let players claim it for free, according to Push Square. The UK listing for Call of Duty: WWII has returned to a listed price of £54.99. The free offers had appeared in some European storefronts without requiring PS Plus, but the reports do not establish whether earlier claims will remain usable.
Can you still get the games for free?
Not reliably. Free listings for Mafia III and Call of Duty: WWII were reported in several European countries, with no PS Plus subscription required. Availability differed by country, and the latest UK update says the listings changed: Mafia III was pulled, while Call of Duty: WWII was listed at its usual price again.
That status is specific to the UK report and its October 7, 2026 update; it does not establish what every European country’s Store currently shows. Check the PlayStation Store for your account’s country and the exact game listing before assuming either game is available at no cost.
What changed in the UK Store?
Mafia III
Push Square reported on October 7 that the UK listing had been pulled while Sony addressed an issue that had allowed players to claim the game for free. The report does not say whether people who already claimed it will keep access or have the license revoked.

Call of Duty: WWII
Push Square said the UK Store page had been corrected and again showed £54.99. That is the price reported in that update, not a guarantee of the price currently shown in the Store.
Why did the free listings appear?
The reports describe the listings as an issue, but do not establish whether they resulted from a Store error or a planned promotion. Sony had not publicly resolved the question in the reporting available for the October 7 update, so it would be premature to call the free access either an intentional giveaway or a confirmed mistake.

PlayStation LifeStyle also reported free listings in UK and European Store regions on October 6, before the later UK correction. Its report is useful context for how the listings were first spotted, but it does not reflect the UK status reported the following day.

Nothing definitive has been established about existing claims. Push Square quoted editor Sammy Barker: “It’s unclear just yet whether those copies will be honoured or revoked.” A listing disappearing or changing price does not, by itself, settle whether a license already added to an account will continue to work.

Players who claimed either game can check their library and the game’s license or download status, but should not treat that as confirmation that access is permanent. The reports do not establish that Sony will revoke claims, nor that it will honor them.

How to check your regional listing
- Open the PlayStation Store using the account whose country storefront you want to check.
- Search for Mafia III or Call of Duty: WWII, and confirm you are viewing the intended game and edition.
- Review the displayed price and any PS Plus requirement. The initial reports said the free listings did not require PS Plus, but that applied only to the affected storefronts at the time.
- If you previously claimed a game, check your library separately; current Store availability does not answer whether an earlier claim will remain playable.
