How to redeem an Xbox gift card or code
- Open Microsoft’s gift-card and code redemption flow and sign in to the Microsoft account where you want the value added.
- Enter or paste the gift-card, Xbox download-code, or token value, then follow the on-screen prompts to confirm redemption.
- Check that the value was added to the intended account before making an eligible purchase. Microsoft says redeemed value can be used at Microsoft Store online, on Windows, or on Xbox; in most regions, some hardware and accessories may also be eligible.
If you bought the wrong code, Microsoft advises contacting the retailer. Do not share a code or PIN with someone who contacts you and asks you to pay them with it.
Check the card’s terms before redeeming
Gift-card rules can depend on the particular offer and region. For example, the surfaced Microsoft Rewards Xbox Gift Card listing describes a promotional card that must be spent within 90 days and includes geography, eligible-purchase, tax, age, and other restrictions. Those are terms for that listing, not universal rules for every Xbox gift card. Read the live terms attached to the card in your own catalog before redeeming.

Why “Xbox code generators” are not a reliable route
Microsoft’s official redemption instructions explain how to redeem a code, but they do not validate code-generator websites or promise that they can produce working codes. A site advertising a generator is not the same thing as an official Microsoft Rewards offer. Don’t enter your Microsoft password, payment details, or account-recovery information into an untrusted site in pursuit of a free code.

The Federal Trade Commission warns that scammers may contact people by phone, text, email, or social media, sometimes impersonating technology companies, and demand gift cards to pay for a supposed problem. The FTC says of those payment demands, “No matter what they say, that’s a scam.” Read its gift-card scam guidance. Stop communicating with anyone demanding a gift-card code or PIN as payment, and use the FTC’s official reporting path if you suspect fraud.
