HOLOGATE’s enterprise division, HGXR, sells configurable extended-reality training systems for police, military, security and other professional users. They combine tracked headsets, shared virtual scenarios, physical training equipment and instructor review—not free-standing holograms or simply an arcade game in a different setting. The aim is to let teams rehearse decisions and coordination in repeatable scenarios; whether that practice improves performance outside the simulation still needs to be established for each use.
From immersive entertainment to enterprise training
HOLOGATE is the broader Munich-based immersive-technology company; HGXR is its enterprise division. Its professional offering builds on capabilities familiar from multiplayer VR—real-time environments, spatial interaction and shared experiences—but packages them as instructor-led training infrastructure. That means scenario software, tracking, equipment integration, session recording and support, rather than a consumer headset bundle. HGXR describes its enterprise offering and lists its Munich base.
The product names refer to different parts of that offer. HOLOFORCE BLUE is aimed at law enforcement; HOLOFORCE BLACK at military and defense. HGXR M is a mobile, multi-use system, while HGXR X is a stationary system with higher-end tracking and physical effects. HGXR SIM is a separate line for customized driving and flying simulation. The brand name should not be taken literally: these systems are primarily headset-based VR/XR, not optical holograms.

What happens in an HGXR training session?
The precise workflow depends on the system and deployment, but the intended pattern is an instructor-selected scenario, tracked participation in a shared virtual space, interaction with people and objects, and a review afterward. Trainees may move through a room, communicate with teammates, handle physical replicas or integrated equipment, and respond as events change. Virtual characters may be AI-driven; a live role-player may also be involved in some scenarios.

- Configure: An instructor selects or adjusts the scenario and participant setup. HOLOGATE says trainers can vary characters, objects, vehicles, location, weather, time of day and incident progression.
- Rehearse: Participants move and make decisions in a tracked environment. Depending on configuration, the exercise may include physical equipment, haptics, environmental effects or a live role-player.
- Review: The session can be recorded for an After Action Review (AAR), with replay from different viewpoints to discuss movement, actions, aim and direction of fire.
That flexibility could help instructors vary an incident instead of teaching one memorized sequence. But public product information does not establish how much authoring agencies can do themselves, what technical training instructors need, or whether the editor works identically across HGXR systems and software. Buyers should confirm those details for the configuration they are evaluating. HOLOGATE’s Saxony-Anhalt description outlines scenario customization and AAR; HGXR’s platform page describes its system categories.
Scenarios: from police decisions to military rehearsal
Law enforcement with HOLOFORCE BLUE
HGXR lists use-of-force decision-making, active-shooter response, traffic stops, identity checks, communication and negotiation among HOLOFORCE BLUE applications. Its materials also describe urban and residential settings, tactical equipment and optional feedback such as haptic vests, shock belts, wind, heat and scent. In a Saxony-Anhalt example, HOLOGATE says scenarios include domestic disputes, knife attacks and identity checks, with dynamic characters and optional live role-players. These are vendor descriptions, not a guarantee that every deployment includes every scenario or effect. HOLOFORCE BLUE’s product information lists the law-enforcement focus.
Military and defense with HOLOFORCE BLACK
HOLOGATE describes HOLOFORCE BLACK for close-quarter battle, room clearing, team assaults, military-law-enforcement identity checks and responses to active-shooter or terrorist incidents. It also describes anti-air and anti-tank training involving MBDA’s Enforcer system. Such rehearsal may support coordination and procedural practice, but it is not a replacement for weapons qualification, live-fire training, physical conditioning or field exercises. HGXR’s HOLOFORCE BLACK page describes its stated scope.

Other applications
HGXR also lists command training, first aid, firefighting and driving or flying simulation. Public material in the available sources is more specific about police and military use than about the breadth or outcomes of these other applications. Driving and flying simulation should also be understood as HGXR SIM, not as an interchangeable mode of the free-roam tactical systems. The platform overview describes these categories.

What makes it more than consumer VR?
The headset is only one component. HGXR’s enterprise proposition is the surrounding workflow: multiple participants, room-scale tracking, physical interfaces, scenario control, recording and instructor-led review. HOLOGATE describes integration with equipment replicas and, in some configurations, real or modified equipment represented as digital twins. Its product descriptions also refer to AI-driven characters and the possible involvement of live role-players.
Physical interaction varies by setup. HOLOGATE describes support for small arms, long guns, submachine guns, conducted-energy devices, pepper spray, batons, flashlights, handcuffs and night-vision equipment, as well as recoil or blowback systems and haptics. It also describes blank-firing setups and possible real-firearm integration. Those options are not evidence that every installation uses live firearms; safe handling, legal requirements and agency procedures depend on the specific deployment. HOLOGATE’s equipment overview describes the range of integrations it says is possible.
AgiS is a distinct physical training-replica platform. HOLOGATE describes its initial AGIS LW PKG95 as a G95-type profile kit with integrated sensors, untethered operation and no weapon components. The company says its air tank supports approximately 200 cycles; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independently verified test result. AI may make a scenario less fixed than a prerecorded video, but the available product descriptions do not establish whether characters use generative, rule-based or hybrid behavior; how they interpret open-ended speech; or how instructors override and audit their decisions. Agencies should ask how behaviors are constrained and tested, and whether AI is used for scenario interaction, assessment or both. It should not be assumed to provide human-equivalent judgment.

Mobile or fixed: choosing a system shape

These distinctions follow HGXR’s published platform descriptions; suitability depends on the buyer’s scenarios and facilities, not just the listed hardware category.
Where HOLOGATE says systems are in use
HOLOGATE reports deployments or contracts involving police organizations in Berlin, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony, Swiss police, and the German Armed Forces. These are company-reported examples; the public pages cited here do not independently establish every contract’s value, delivery status, scale or continued use.
Saxony-Anhalt
HOLOGATE says it won a tender to supply an XR system integrated into the police academy’s tactical and shooting curriculum. Its account describes domestic-dispute, knife-attack and identity-check scenarios, adjustable environments, live role-players and AAR. The company announcement is dated April 23, 2025.
Lower Saxony
HOLOGATE says Lower Saxony Police selected its mobile HGXR system for scenario-based operational training. The company’s announcement also says systems are in use in five German federal states, with Swiss police and the German Armed Forces. That deployment count is HOLOGATE’s statement. The announcement is dated May 27, 2025.

North Rhine-Westphalia and the Bundeswehr
HGXR reports a three-year framework contract for “VR in Operational Training NRW,” including multi-user systems and a police training environment covering more than 1,500 square meters. Its NRW account is the cited source. HOLOGATE says its collaboration with the German Armed Forces began in 2020 and describes a VIRTUOS study of virtual urban-operations training. Those facts establish reported activity, not proof that the systems improve field outcomes.

HGXR’s HOLOFORCE BLUE page cites 85% improved understanding and 73% improved readiness for real-world scenarios. Its HOLOFORCE BLACK page cites 400% more focus, 275% more confidence and 400% faster training. HOLOGATE has also posted VIRTUOS figures of 97% soldier endorsement, 85% improved understanding and 84% positive assessment of evaluation capabilities. These are vendor-presented findings, not universal effect sizes. The cited public materials do not provide enough methodological detail to establish sample sizes, comparison groups, measurement methods or transfer to performance outside VR. BLUE’s figures, BLACK’s figures and the VIRTUOS summary should therefore be read as company-reported results rather than independent proof of operational improvement.
AAR makes an event inspectable: instructors can discuss positioning, timing, communication and actions using a replay rather than relying only on recollection. But recording is not the same as validated assessment. A buyer should ask which metrics are captured, whether they correspond with instructor judgments, whether they predict performance in live settings, and how session records are retained, accessed and protected. HGXR describes 3D recording and review for HOLOFORCE BLUE.
For an agency considering adoption, engagement, knowledge retention, performance in the simulation, transfer to live exercises and operational outcomes are separate questions. Evidence for one does not establish the others. Independent evaluation should report participant type, sample size, baseline training, comparison group, measurement method and whether any gains persist outside the virtual environment.

Limits and implementation risks
Virtual conditions have boundaries
VR can make certain scenarios repeatable and configurable, but it cannot fully recreate physical fatigue, weather, vehicle movement, restraint or casualty evacuation, the complexity of real crowds, or the consequences of an actual encounter. It is best understood as an additional rehearsal layer between classroom instruction and live exercises, not a universal substitute.
Comfort, tracking and facility operations
Potential problems include motion discomfort, tracking drift or occlusion, calibration errors, battery management, network latency and failures in connected replicas. Participants sharing physical space also need room and procedures that prevent collisions. HOLOGATE describes its mobile platform as quick to deploy, but that does not establish total setup time once transport, calibration, safety checks and instructor preparation are included. Agencies should request uptime, failure, recalibration and recovery information for the proposed configuration. The Lower Saxony announcement contains the company’s mobile-system description.
AI, data and security
Before procurement, buyers should establish how AI behaviors are constrained, tested and overridden; what session data is collected; where recordings are stored; whether data leaves agency networks; and who controls access and retention. Agencies handling sensitive training records should ask whether the system can operate on the required network or offline, and request relevant cybersecurity and privacy documentation rather than assuming a particular certification or compliance status.
Instructor capacity and total cost
A system needs a curriculum, capable instructors and time for maintenance. Buyers should establish who can author scenarios, how much training operators need, what support and calibration entail, and how the platform integrates with existing training records. HOLOGATE’s reviewed public pages do not list standard hardware or subscription prices; its contact-based presentation points to institutional configuration rather than consumer checkout. Ask for a complete ownership estimate covering hardware, installation, software, scenario development, support, replacement equipment, instructor training, facility work, integration and data storage. HGXR’s public overview does not provide a standard list price.
How to evaluate a purchase
Graphics quality alone is a weak buying criterion. A procurement review should test whether the system fits the training objective and the organization’s operating constraints.
- Training relevance: Can scenarios reflect local policy, terminology, equipment, geography and escalation rules? Are communication and decision-making addressed alongside weapon handling?
- Physical fidelity: Are replicas and tracking accurate enough for the intended task? What equipment can be safely integrated, and how are safety procedures handled?
- Scenario control: Can instructors vary events and include role-players? Can agency staff edit scenarios themselves, and what support is required?
- Assessment: What is recorded, who can annotate it, and can the AAR be exported or integrated into existing learning systems?
- Operations: What room, lighting, network, ventilation, storage and calibration are required? How many participants can the selected configuration support?
- Support and lifecycle: What maintenance, upgrades, replacement parts and local technical support are available?
- Security and privacy: Where are voice, movement and performance records stored, who owns them, and can the system meet the organization’s network and retention requirements?
- Total cost: Request the full installed and recurring cost, including custom content, training, support, facility changes and integration.
HGXR’s documented European police and military examples make it a plausible candidate for institutions that need repeatable, multi-user scenario practice and can support enterprise procurement. They do not establish that the system is suitable for every agency, particularly organizations without instructor capacity or a need for immersive team scenarios.
