Short answer: Recent Galaxy S flagship phones and premium Galaxy Tab S tablets are the safest choices for native Fortnite. Compatibility is not determined by the Galaxy name alone: Epic requires 64-bit ARM64 Android 10 or newer, at least 4 GB of RAM, and a qualifying GPU. As of August 16, 2026, Epic does not publish a permanent Samsung-by-model whitelist, so verify the exact regional model before buying or installing.
Epic’s current Android requirements
Epic’s requirements apply to Samsung devices as well as other Android hardware. Meeting the minimum may make Fortnite install and launch, but does not promise high graphics settings, stable frame rates, or comfortable competitive play.

These figures come from Epic’s Android requirements. A phone can be technically installable yet still suffer from heat, graphics reductions, or frame-rate drops.

Strong candidates
Galaxy S25, S24, S23, S22 and S21 families are the strongest mainstream candidates, including an S21 FE when its particular variant meets the requirements. Their recent processors, 64-bit software and typical memory configurations generally place them above Epic’s minimum. This is an informed hardware recommendation, not Epic certification of every storage or regional version. Samsung’s supported-device documentation is available in its One UI device list.

Specification-dependent phones
- Galaxy S20 and older S flagships
- Galaxy Note20 and Note10 families
- Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models, depending on generation
- Galaxy A-series phones with at least 4 GB RAM and a qualifying GPU
Check the model number and chipset rather than relying on the family name. A Galaxy sold in one country may use Snapdragon while the same marketed model elsewhere uses Exynos, and memory options can differ.
Poor candidates
Phones with under 4 GB of RAM, Android 9 or earlier, 32-bit Android, or graphics below Epic’s threshold are unlikely to support native play. Epic may show “Device not supported” or omit the install button entirely; see its unsupported-device guidance.
Samsung tablets
Premium Tab S models
Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S9 and Tab S8 families are the safest tablet choices. Their high-end processors and memory configurations are much more likely to meet the recommended target than budget tablets. Samsung’s tablet comparison page helps identify the exact configuration.

Older and budget tablets
Tab S7 and older premium models may work if they still satisfy Android, RAM, architecture and GPU requirements. Tab A models must be checked individually; a recent Android version alone does not compensate for a low-end GPU or insufficient memory.
Check your exact Galaxy before installing
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone or About tablet.
- Record the model name, full model number and Android version. Note RAM and processor details if shown.
- Compare them with Epic’s minimum table above, including 64-bit ARM64 architecture and GPU class.
- Search for Fortnite in Google Play or try the official Epic Games Store app. A missing listing or “Device not supported” message means native compatibility should be treated as unavailable.
The full model number matters because regional variants can have different chips, RAM and radios.
How to install Fortnite on Samsung
Google Play
- Open Google Play Store and search for Fortnite.
- Confirm that Epic Games is the publisher.
- Install, sign in to your Epic account, and allow the additional game files to download.
- Use Wi-Fi and keep the device charged during the initial download.

Epic Games Store app
- Visit Epic’s official mobile page and download the Epic Games app.
- If Samsung blocks the installer, temporarily allow installation from that browser or source in the Android security prompt.
- Install the Epic Games app, then install Fortnite inside it.
- Restore the security restriction afterward if you prefer.
Fortnite is no longer downloadable from the Samsung Galaxy Store. Epic explains the change in its Galaxy Store notice. Avoid third-party APK mirrors.
If Fortnite does not appear in Google Play
- Confirm Android 10 or newer and at least 4 GB of RAM.
- Verify 64-bit ARM64 architecture and the GPU requirement.
- Install pending Samsung system updates.
- Check whether your regional model uses a different chipset.
- Try the Epic Games Store app if the device meets the requirements.
- If both official routes reject the device, consider cloud gaming rather than sideloading an unofficial APK.

Native installation versus cloud gaming
Epic lists Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW and Amazon Luna as ways to play without downloading Fortnite locally.

Cloud play can rescue an unsupported or storage-constrained Galaxy, but it cannot overcome unstable Wi-Fi, high latency, service queues, regional limits or browser restrictions. A fast 5G label alone does not guarantee a good session.

Touch controls work, and a compatible Bluetooth or USB-C controller can provide more precise aiming. Epic says mouse and keyboard are not supported on mobile devices, including mobile cloud sessions, so do not buy a keyboard-and-mouse setup expecting console-style support. Fixes for crashes or poor performance
- Update Fortnite and Samsung system software.
- Close background apps.
- Lower Fortnite’s graphics settings.
- Clear the Fortnite app cache.
- Restart the device; reinstall if problems continue.
- Reduce heat by removing a thick case and avoiding play while charging.
- Use stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi where available.

Which Samsung option fits you?
- Portable native play: a recent Galaxy S flagship you already own or are replacing anyway.
- Large-screen play: a premium Galaxy Tab S10, S9 or S8, especially with a controller.
- Existing mid-range phone: verify its exact RAM, GPU, architecture and Android version before spending money.
- Unsupported hardware: cloud gaming, provided your connection and preferred input method are suitable.
Do not treat Samsung’s 2018 Fortnite launch page—which mentions devices such as the Note9, S9 and Tab S4—as a current compatibility list; it is historical information.
