What did “rapid growth” mean in the 2022 report?
In its December 5, 2022 interview with Gamefam founder and CEO Joe Ferencz, GamesBeat reported that Gamefam revenue was up more than 275% compared with a year earlier, measured so far in 2022. Gamefam was private and did not disclose absolute revenue or profit, so the percentage was a reported company growth figure—not an audited financial statement or a complete picture of its finances.
The same account described a company with more than 30 titles across Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite, while identifying Roblox as its primary focus. It also reported more than 20 billion lifetime gameplay sessions and over 18 million daily gameplay sessions at the time. Those historical session figures use different wording and measures from Gamefam’s current About-page visit statistics; they should not be treated as matching points in a continuous growth chart.
What did Gamefam and its CEO say was changing?
Ferencz told GamesBeat that brand partners were moving from exploratory projects to larger, more ambitious Roblox games. He said: “What we’re now seeing is brands recognizing that this is a platform that can accommodate triple-A level production values, and brands are bringing substantially larger budgets now to develop Roblox games, which has made us focus on fewer bigger projects with top tier brand partners.”

That is the CEO’s explanation of the business shift, not independent proof that larger brand budgets caused the reported revenue increase. In the interview, Ferencz also described 2022 as “a phenomenal year” and credited the team and its work for partners and communities. Gamefam’s current About page describes its business as building and operating experiences across Roblox, Fortnite, and other platforms, and lists partners including Paramount, FIFA, adidas, the NFL, Netflix, Mattel, Sony, Sega, Samsung, and Crunchyroll.
Which game illustrated Gamefam’s 2022 reach?
Sonic Speed Simulator
GamesBeat singled out Sonic Speed Simulator, a Roblox game, as a prominent example. The report said it exceeded 275,000 concurrent players in its first week and passed 500 million visits in its first four months. Those are launch-period milestones reported in 2022, not current player or visit counts.

The article also said Gamefam’s ten most popular games accounted for 90% of its gameplay at that time. That concentration helps explain why a breakout title mattered to the company’s reported activity, but the figure applies to the 2022 snapshot only.

The same GamesBeat report said a Twilight Daycare toy line was available at Walmart, Target, and Amazon. That is historical retail context from 2022; the report does not establish present-day stock or a current Amazon listing.

Gamefam’s About page currently says the company was established in 2019 and has over 37 billion lifetime visits and 16 million average daily visits across 50+ live-operated games on Roblox, Fortnite, and other platforms. These are company-presented metrics. The page does not state a publication date or explain the visit-count methodology, and the numbers are not independently audited measures in the cited material.

The comparison shows a larger portfolio count and different usage figures on Gamefam’s current page, but it does not establish a revenue trend. “Gameplay sessions” and “visits” are not necessarily identical measures, and the company page does not provide enough methodology to reconcile the figures directly.

What Roblox-wide figures do—and do not—show
Roblox’s scale helps explain the platform context, but its numbers are not Gamefam results. Roblox said it had 79.5 million daily users as of June 30, 2024. For the 12 months ending on that date, it reported distributing $803 million to the global creator community, an 18% increase over the previous 12 months. These platform-wide statistics do not reveal what Gamefam or any individual Gamefam game earned.
Roblox later reported that its top 1,000 developers averaged $820,000 in earnings in 2024, up 570% since 2019. It also said the median creator in DevEx received $1,575 during the 12 months ending December 31, 2024, with more than 24,500 creators in DevEx. Those figures describe different parts of Roblox’s creator economy—not typical earnings, a guarantee of income, or Gamefam’s revenue.
