Yes. Gameloft reported on July 4, 2012, that its official mobile game based on Sony Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-Man was available on Google Play. That confirms historical availability, not whether the Android game can still be downloaded today.
What was announced—and when
On June 4, 2012, Gameloft announced that it was working with Marvel on the official mobile game tied to Sony Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-Man. The planned summer release was timed around the film’s July 3, 2012 release. Gameloft named feature phones, iPhone, iPad and Android devices as target platforms in its announcement.

On July 4, Gameloft said the game was available on the App Store and Google Play. The company’s launch report says the iOS version launched on June 28, but it does not give a separate Google Play release date. The July 4 report is therefore the evidence for Google Play availability; June 28 should not be presented as the Android launch date.
What kind of game was it?
Gameloft described the title as a 3D action game inspired by the film. Its announcement said players would explore the city, protect citizens, develop skills and discover powers, with missions and battles among the promised activities. Gameloft also said its team was working with Marvel and the movie teams to keep the game close to the film’s storyline.

What Gameloft reported after launch
In its July 4, 2012 release, Gameloft said the game had reached the top sales ranking in the App Store video-games category and had been among the top five grossing games in 72 countries since its iOS launch. These are company-reported figures about the iOS version, not Google Play rankings or independently verified results.

- Play as Peter Parker: Play as Spider-Man's citizen alter-ego persona as you investigate the motivations of multifaceted villains.
- All-Star Villain Cast: Wide cast of Spider-Man universe and movie villains, each with their own unique boss battle encounters.
- All-New Web Arsenal: New web-swing mechanic includes expanded web-shooter capabilities and chemical properties that allow you to freeze and blow up items on impact.
- Expansive NYC: Explore and take on villains in a more expansive Manhattan cityscape than the previous Amazing Spider-Man.
- New Heroism System: "Hero or Menace" system rewards you for acting as Spider-Man by stopping crime and saving citizens, but face the consequences if you don't keep down crime rates.
The release also quoted Gameloft publishing executive Gonzague de Vallois and Marvel games executive Andreea Enache-Thune praising the game. Those comments were promotional statements from the companies, not independent reviews.

That remains unresolved. The 2012 launch report confirms the game was once on Google Play, but does not establish its present listing or reinstall status. Gameloft’s Google Play developer catalogue does not show an exact-title listing in the available information. That absence alone does not prove the game was delisted everywhere: availability could vary by region or account history, and no definitive current listing or official removal notice is established here.

In short, the historical release is clear; current Android access is not. Do not treat the sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as the same app.
