A later Newzoo forecast put the 2026 market at $213.9 billion. Those are separate estimates from different publishers, not directly comparable measurements.

Konvoy’s Q1 2025 Gaming Industry Report projected a $186 billion games industry in 2026, with 4.7% year-over-year growth. GamesBeat reported the forecast on April 16, 2025. The figure describes what Konvoy expected the market to be worth in a future year; it is not an observed or final total for 2026. How the forecast compares with Newzoo’s later estimates
Newzoo’s Global Games Market Report 2026 page, published August 13, 2026, forecasts $213.9 billion for 2026, up 6.1% year over year. Newzoo also put its estimate of the 2025 market at $201.6 billion, up 9.1% year over year and above its earlier estimates. What Konvoy reported about investment activity
Konvoy’s Q1 2025 report also covered deals and venture funding, which are measures of investment activity rather than market revenue. GamesBeat reported 43 M&A transactions and 77 venture-capital deals in that quarter. It also reported $373 million in venture funding, up 35% from the previous quarter, even as the deal count fell 6% quarter over quarter. These figures describe one quarter in 2025 and should not be confused with annual industry revenue.
Konvoy managing partner Josh Chapman characterized the regional distribution of gaming investment in Q1 2025 this way: “In the first quarter of 2025, North America saw 53% of the gaming investment vs Asia which saw only 33% of the total investment capital in the sector. The third runner up is Europe, yet we see almost zero investment or deal activity out of Africa, South America, or Australia.” He added that Konvoy expected North America, Asia, and Europe to remain the core locations for gaming investment and deal activity. A market-size figure is meaningful only alongside its publisher, update date, target year, and status as a forecast or estimate. For a rigorous comparison, readers also need the underlying revenue definition, included platforms, geographic coverage, and forecasting method. The cited pages do not provide enough comparable detail to reconcile Konvoy’s 2025 forecast with Newzoo’s later figures.
Newzoo’s $213.9 billion figure is the later 2026 forecast in the available sources, while Konvoy’s $186 billion number remains a dated forecast made in its Q1 2025 report. Neither should be described as a verified final 2026 market total.
