These alternatives match different parts of that appeal—not all of them share its pace or setting.
What makes a game feel like Guns of Eschaton?
Guns of Eschaton is a first-person soulslike shooter set in an apocalyptic Western. Its Steam demo description presents the player as fragile and outmatched, with distinct guns, enemies with specific weaknesses, and combat that rewards deliberate decisions over reflexes alone. The publisher’s announcement adds specialized ammunition, occult powers, precise dashes, and a Codex system for exposing enemy weaknesses.
That gives you several ways to interpret “like.” A useful comparison asks whether you want:
- Measured, punishing combat: learn enemy behavior and take advantage of openings.
- Resource-conscious shooting: make ammunition and accurate hits count.
- Buildcrafting: shape a character through weapons, gear, or abilities.
- Co-op or PvP: play with others, rather than only pursue a solo campaign.
- Occult Western atmosphere: seek the frontier setting and supernatural tone.
Use those distinctions when choosing what to play next: sharing an FPS label alone does not make a game a close match.

Games to try, depending on what you want to match
The available information establishes Guns of Eschaton’s features, but does not verify specific alternative games. Rather than present an unsubstantiated list as fact, use the following match points to find a recommendation that fits your preferred part of the game.
For deliberate, high-stakes combat
Look for first-person shooters that emphasize enemy patterns, careful positioning, and punishable mistakes instead of constant movement and rapid firing. Check recent gameplay footage or a demo before buying: “soulslike shooter” can mean very different things from one game to another.
For enemy weaknesses and precise shots
Prioritize games that make target selection part of the encounter. If you want the specific feel described for Guns of Eschaton, look for systems where enemy study or ammunition choice changes how you approach a fight—not merely games with headshots or a broad weapon roster.
For weapons, gear, and build choices
Search for shooters with meaningful loadout decisions and progression that changes combat. The full game is announced with more than 20 weapons inspired by nineteenth-century firearms, along with custom bullets, talismans, armor, consumables, sacramental powers, and broader progression. These are planned features, not content confirmed in the released demo.
For co-op or competitive play
Check the mode you actually want. Steam’s listing for the standalone demo includes single-player, PvP, and co-op features. The publisher has also announced solo and co-op progression for the full game, but that announcement does not establish that competitive PvP or every other demo feature will carry over unchanged.

For an occult frontier setting
Look beyond the shooter genre to games that combine frontier imagery with supernatural horror or apocalyptic worldbuilding. The publisher describes a journey across nineteenth-century America; that specific setting is a different kind of match from combat mechanics, so decide which matters more to you.

The free Steam demo launched on October 5, 2026. It is a standalone adventure intended to showcase the world, atmosphere, combat, enemies, weapons, and core systems—not the opening chapter or a slice of the full campaign. That makes it useful for judging the game’s central feel, but not for evaluating the full campaign’s length or all of its announced progression.
One Creative Bloq reviewer described struggling with body-part aiming, enemy hit order, parry timing, and remembering to cock the gun, and said the game would demand patience. That is one reviewer’s account, not a consensus or a guarantee of how difficult you will find it. If those mechanics sound appealing, try the demo; if you want uninterrupted run-and-gun action, its official description suggests a different pace than you may expect.

The demo is available as a standalone Steam release, while the full game is separately listed as upcoming in the sources reviewed. A June 30, 2026 publisher announcement names PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series as planned platforms. Treat those platforms and the full-game feature list as announced plans, not proof of availability or a confirmed release date.
The Steam demo listing includes controller support, but a controller is optional; no special hardware is identified as a requirement.
