If you want another stealth series after Metal Gear Solid, choose Splinter Cell for covert-operator infiltration or HITMAN World of Assassination for disguise-driven missions you can solve in many ways. They share stealth as a core appeal, but they are not interchangeable: Metal Gear pairs stealth action with cinematic storytelling, Splinter Cell focuses on covert operations, and HITMAN builds replayable sandboxes around planning and experimentation.
Which series is closest to Metal Gear Solid?
It depends on which part of Metal Gear Solid you want more of. For a covert-agent fantasy and tactical infiltration, try Splinter Cell. For self-contained missions where disguises and creative plans matter, try HITMAN World of Assassination. If what you value most is Metal Gear‘s characters, continuity, and cinematic style, the closest match is more Metal Gear.

Play Splinter Cell for covert-operations stealth
Splinter Cell is the clearest choice if your favorite Metal Gear moments involve slipping through guarded areas as a specialist operative. Ubisoft’s description of Sam Fisher as an elite covert agent points to a more focused infiltration fantasy than HITMAN’s open-ended assassination setups. The original Splinter Cell was released for PC on 18 February 2003, according to Ubisoft’s product page. Ubisoft: Splinter Cell

Is Splinter Cell: Blacklist a good place to start?
Blacklist is a relevant entry to consider for stealth-action play, but check the platform and feature caveats first. Ubisoft lists PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U for the game. Its online multiplayer and co-op features are no longer functional, so do not choose it expecting those modes to work. Ubisoft: Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Play HITMAN for disguises and mission sandboxes
HITMAN World of Assassination suits players who want to study a location, make a plan, and try another approach on a later run. IO Interactive describes it as a stealth sandbox with freedom of approach; the series’ official materials highlight disguises and creative tools. Rather than treating each mission as a single route through enemy lines, think of it as a space for testing different plans. IO Interactive: HITMAN

Quick Recap
Best Value
- Rising's stealth elements will emphasize Raiden's considerable speed and agility through what Matsuyama describes as "hunting stealth."
- Gameplay will focus on two key elements: swordfighting, and a style of stealth that is more fast-paced and action-oriented.
- "Cutting" entails sophisticated swordplay that lets players engage in third person melee combat, as well as precisely slash enemies and objects "at will" along a geometrical plane using a "free slicing" mode.
Make the choice by the stealth you want
- Choose Splinter Cell if you want the covert-agent and tactical-infiltration side of the appeal.
- Choose HITMAN World of Assassination if you want disguises, flexible plans, and missions designed for replay and experimentation.
- Choose Metal Gear if the series’ cinematic storytelling and continuity matter as much as stealth; compare the relevant collection or remake’s platform listing before purchase.
