What it is
Elite Dangerous is a space-flight simulation and trading-and-combat game from Frontier Developments, released in 2014. You pilot a starship through an open-ended galaxy, choosing how to make your way: combat, mining, trade, or journeys into unexplored systems. Its setting spans a Milky Way recreated at a 1:1 scale, with star systems, planets, moons, asteroid belts and black holes. Players can chart routes and explore unfamiliar worlds, including their surfaces with a Surface Recon Vehicle. More than 35 spacecraft are available, ranging from exploration ships to large battle-ready vessels, and ships can be collected and outfitted. The game supports single-player, multiplayer, MMO and co-op play, as well as VR. Its Steam listing also includes in-app purchases, partial controller support, tablet Remote Play and Family Sharing. Windows is listed for Steam, while the broader platform list also names macOS and Xbox Series X|S.
