What it is
How to Survive is a survival horror action role-playing game from Eko Software. After a shipwreck leaves you stranded on an isolated island, you need to find food, water and shelter, then prepare for the dangers of night. The game follows three playable characters with different traits and skill trees across four islands populated by distinctive wildlife and hostile creatures. You can collect Survival Guide video chapters for tips and gather materials to craft more than 100 weapons and tools, including shotguns and Molotov cocktails. Story mode supports offline play with a friend, while eight challenges can be played online with a friend. An Iron Man difficulty offers a more demanding run. The Steam version lists single-player, multiplayer, co-op and shared/split-screen play, alongside achievements, controller support, Steam Cloud, trading cards, leaderboards and Remote Play on TV. The listed platforms include Windows and Wii U; Steam lists Windows. The game was released in 2013, with its Steam release dated August 29, 2014.
