What it is
Imperator: Rome is a grand strategy game set around the classical Mediterranean, from the successor kingdoms after Alexander to the foundation of the Roman Empire. You guide a nation through empire building, balancing provincial development and conquest with politics and diplomacy. Its changing cast of characters can lead the nation, govern provinces, and command armies and fleets; their skills and traits affect these roles. Populations include citizens, freemen, tribesmen, and slaves, each with a culture and religion. Their happiness matters to a nation’s success, while they can contribute to armies, revenue, or colonies. The game also asks players to manage populations, watch for treachery, and maintain religious observance. It supports single-player and multiplayer, including online PvP, and has Steam Workshop, Steam Cloud, achievements, trading cards, and Family Sharing. It is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS.
