What it is
Life Eater is a horror-fantasy game from Strange Scaffold in which you play a modern-day druid in suburbia. To delay the end of the world, you must identify and abduct specific people for an annual ritual. A video-editing-inspired timeline interface lets you piece together targets’ lives from blocks of their schedules, then choose when to act before authorities find your lair. The story frames the work around a dead-end job, an uncertain dark god, and a long list of targets. Its mix of authored and generated stories is replayable, and the story mode is fully voiced by Xalavier Nelson Jr. and Jarret Griffis. An Endless mode adds decades of procedurally generated targets. David Mason composed the original atmospheric soundscape. Steam features include single-player, achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. Life Eater is listed for Windows and released April 16, 2024.
