What it is
Patrician III: Rise of the Hanse is a business simulation set in 13th-century Europe, where you build wealth and influence through trade, civic development, diplomacy or piracy. As a member of the Hanse trading association, you can establish warehouses and workshops, improve your town with roads, hospitals and schools, and seek the role of Lord Mayor. The game spans cities including Hamburg, Stockholm, London, Novgorod and Oslo, with Mediterranean exploration and seasonal weather effects shaping its trading operations. It also lets you choose whether to hunt pirates or become one, and whether to build standing through public improvements or pursue smuggling. Its in-game AI adjusts difficulty based on player experience and ability. Patrician III supports single-player and multiplayer sessions for up to eight friends over LAN or the Internet. It was developed by Ascaron for Windows and published by Kalypso Media Digital.
