What it is
Reigns is a strategy game developed by Nerial and published by Devolver Digital. You rule a medieval kingdom by swiping left or right on requests from advisors, peasants, allies and enemies. Each choice can affect the kingdom later, and your task is to keep the church, people, army and treasury in balance while trying to extend your reign. Requests and events change from year to year, while poor luck or unforeseen developments can end a monarch's rule. Reigns also asks players to pursue goals set at the start of a reign; completing challenges unlocks cards and other kingdom content. Its story can span centuries, with political intrigue, witch-burning, scientific enlightenment and supernatural events among the possibilities. The Steam version is single-player and includes achievements, full controller support, trading cards and Family Sharing. It is listed for Windows, macOS and Linux, and was released on Steam on August 11, 2016.
