What it is

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a stealth action-adventure from Ubisoft Shanghai, released in 2006. Players control covert operative Sam Fisher as he infiltrates a terrorist organization from within. The double-agent setup asks players to balance opposing NSA and terrorist objectives, decide whom to support or undermine, and preserve Fisher's cover. Those choices affect both the story and gameplay, leading to different endings.

Missions span locations including Shanghai, Cozumel, New York and Los Angeles, as well as environments such as underwater ice floes, sandstorms and areas clouded by dust or smoke. Gadgets and weapons can be upgraded, including night vision equipment. The game is listed as single-player, with Family Sharing, and the Steam version is for Windows. Its Steam release date is February 13, 2009, and its listed age rating is 17. Online features are no longer supported, so multiplayer and co-op modes do not function.
