The standard GameSir G7 Pro Tri-Mode is a highly configurable controller for Xbox and PC, but its “Tri-Mode” name does not mean wireless Xbox play: on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, this model connects by cable. It adds TMR sticks, Hall Effect triggers, four extra remappable controls, and a charging stand to a familiar Xbox-style design. That makes it unusually capable for its class, though the wired Xbox connection and just two rear buttons may be deal-breakers for some players.
What is the GameSir G7 Pro, and what does “Tri-Mode” mean?
The standard G7 Pro is an officially licensed Xbox controller that also works with PC and Android. “Tri-Mode” refers to its connection options across platforms, not three ways to connect to Xbox. GameSir lists wired USB for Xbox, wired USB or 2.4 GHz wireless for PC, and Bluetooth for Android. It also lists Steam compatibility. The connection mode depends on the device; check the exact product listing and regional variant before buying. GameSir’s product overview and Windows Central’s review describe the standard model’s platform-specific connections.
| Platform | Connection on standard G7 Pro |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One | Wired USB |
| PC | Wired USB or 2.4 GHz wireless |
| Android | Bluetooth |
A separate Wuchang edition has been reported with wireless Xbox support, but it is not the standard Tri-Mode configuration. Tom’s Guide reported that edition’s availability and price at the time of its review; both can change. Verify the precise SKU and its compatibility claims rather than assuming a wireless-for-Xbox feature applies to every G7 Pro listing. Tom’s Guide’s review discusses the separate edition.
How does the G7 Pro’s feature set stand out?
Sticks and triggers
GameSir equips the G7 Pro with Mag-Res TMR sticks and Hall Effect analog triggers. TMR and Hall Effect are different sensing technologies; in this controller, the sticks use TMR while the triggers use Hall Effect sensors. The triggers have stops and can switch to micro-switch operation for a shorter, more click-like input. GameSir also specifies a 12-bit ADC, a five-million-cycle joystick-module rating, and 4096-level joystick resolution. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements in the reviews cited here. GameSir’s overview describes the components and specifications.

#1 Best Overall
- Tri-mode Connectivity: Wired for Xbox, 2.4G & Wired for PC, and Bluetooth for Android. The G7 Pro supports seamless connectivity across Xbox, PC, and Android. Effortlessly switch between modes using the convenient physical mode switch.
- TMR Sticks: The G7 Pro features GameSir's Mag-Res TMR sticks, combining Hall Effect durability with traditional potentiometer performance. This advanced technology delivers stable polling rates for smooth, drift-free gaming with low power consumption.
- Hall Effect Analog Triggers: The GameSir precision-tuned Hall Effect analog triggers provide unmatched smoothness and linear input for precise control. Featuring clicky Micro Switch trigger stops, gamers can easily switch based on their preferences.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
Extra controls and customization
There are four extra remappable controls: two mini bumpers and two lockable rear buttons. That gives players more inputs to assign without moving their thumbs from the sticks, though the rear-button count is lower than on some controllers with four paddles. Reviews describe optical micro-switch face buttons, a swappable D-pad, and a three-part magnetic faceplate; GameSir says the faceplate works with previous G7-series faceplates. The GameSir Nexus software provides customization, and the built-in gyroscope has PC support. Windows Central covers the layout and controls, while GameSir details the faceplate and software features.
Power, audio, and polling
The package includes a charging stand, and independent reviews describe an internal rechargeable battery and four rumble motors. The controller also has a 3.5 mm audio jack for an optional wired headset. GameSir specifies 1000 Hz polling on PC over both wired and 2.4 GHz connections. That PC specification should not be read as an Xbox figure: GamesRadar+ reports Xbox accessory polling is capped at 400 Hz. GameSir’s product page gives the PC polling claim, while GamesRadar+’s review discusses the Xbox context.

Is the GameSir G7 Pro worth it?
It is easiest to recommend to players who want one controller for wired Xbox use and wireless PC play, value sensor-based sticks and triggers, and will use the customization and charging stand. The feature combination is compelling, but it is not a universal best controller: Xbox players who require wireless play should look elsewhere or verify a specifically identified compatible edition, and PC buyers have substantial competition at lower prices.
Independent reviews broadly praise its value and versatility while identifying meaningful trade-offs. PCGamesN hardware editor Edward Chester called it “incredible value,” pointing to its sticks, removable faceplate, switchable triggers, dock, and Xbox compatibility. Tom’s Guide praised ergonomics and performance but noted the Xbox cable requirement, two rear buttons, and limits to modularity. GamesRadar+ praised stick precision and versatility, while its reviewer found the rear buttons loud and said the controller did not feel as premium or fast as some higher-end rivals. These are reviewers’ evaluations, not claims of a hands-on test for this article. PCGamesN, Tom’s Guide, and GamesRadar+ provide their respective assessments.

- Versatile compatibility: supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S consoles and PC Win10 and above (including the game platform Steam).
- Precise control: features Hall joysticks and Hall triggers for a comfortable feeling, long service life and improved game accuracy.
- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable experience: Includes 2 custom backbuttons that allow users to eliminate false triggers and improve their gaming experience.
- Impressive gameplay: Provides a pulsating vibration trigger and an asymmetric vibration grip motor for intense tactile feedback.
Who is it for?
- A good fit: Xbox or PC players who are comfortable with a cable on Xbox and want extensive control customization, TMR sticks, Hall Effect triggers, and a dock.
- Consider another option: players who insist on wireless Xbox play, want four rear paddles, or prioritize the feel and speed of more expensive controllers.
- PC buyers: compare the G7 Pro with alternatives such as the GameSir Cyclone 2, Manba One, PowerA OPS v3 Pro, or Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded. Prices and availability vary, so compare current listings and the features you will actually use. Tom’s Guide discusses alternatives including those models and the G7 SE. Tom’s Guide’s comparison is a starting point.
How does the G7 Pro compare with the GameSir G7 SE?
The models should not be treated as interchangeable just because they share the G7 name. The information available here establishes that the G7 Pro has TMR sticks, Hall Effect triggers with selectable stops, PC 2.4 GHz wireless, an included charging stand, and four extra remappable controls. It does not establish a complete, directly comparable G7 SE specification set, so a feature-by-feature claim would risk overstating the differences. Compare the exact regional listings for connection modes, stick and trigger sensing, extra controls, included accessories, and price before choosing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the model and platform: Make sure the listing is for the standard G7 Pro Tri-Mode if that is what you intend to buy, and confirm that its Xbox connection is wired. Do not infer wireless Xbox support from the Tri-Mode name.
- Check the exact variant: If a listing advertises wireless Xbox connectivity or a special edition, verify that claim on that specific SKU and in your region.
- Compare the live price and package: Prices, stock, promotions, and included accessories change by seller and market. PC Gamer reported a temporary Amazon price of $63.99 against $79.99 in October 2026; that was a short-lived deal, not a guaranteed current price. PC Gamer’s deal coverage records that promotion.
- Check software needs: If you want to remap controls or use gyro features on PC, confirm that the current GameSir Nexus software and your chosen games support the setup you want.
Tom’s Guide listed dimensions of 5.98 × 4.06 × 2.28 inches and weight of 9.6 ounces, plus a review-time price of $79/£89. Treat those figures as the specifications and dated pricing reported by that publication, not a current universal retail price. Tom’s Guide’s review provides those details.
