The GameSir G7 Pro Tri-Mode is a compelling asymmetric controller if you play on PC or Android: it pairs TMR thumbsticks with Hall Effect analog triggers, trigger-stop microswitch mode, and both wired and wireless connections. The key catch is in its name: despite Xbox compatibility, the standard Tri-Mode model connects to Xbox by cable only. Its wireless modes are for PC and Android.
Is the GameSir G7 Pro worth buying?
For PC and Android players who want an Xbox-style asymmetric layout and a long feature list without paying for a premium first-party controller, the G7 Pro Tri-Mode looks like strong value. Independent reviewers broadly praise its feature set and ergonomics, while identifying meaningful compromises: Xbox is wired-only, the D-pad may feel mushy, and the controller has only two rear buttons with limited modularity.
PC Gamer reviewer Shaun Prescott gave it 92 in a review published September 3, 2025, praising its feature-to-price balance. That score is one reviewer’s judgment, not a guarantee that its controls or shape will suit every player. Windows Central and Tom’s Guide also discuss the wired Xbox limitation; Windows Central flags the D-pad, while Tom’s Guide notes the rear-button count and limited modularity.
Connection modes: Xbox is wired, not wireless
| Platform | Connection described for the standard Tri-Mode model |
|---|---|
| Xbox | Wired connection |
| PC | Wired or 2.4 GHz wireless |
| Android | Bluetooth wireless |
That distinction should drive the buying decision. If you need a wireless Xbox controller, the standard G7 Pro Tri-Mode is not the right fit. The product’s “Tri-Mode” label describes its platform connection options, but it does not mean wireless operation on every supported platform. Confirm the exact edition and connection details on the listing before ordering.

#1 Best Overall
- Tri-mode Connectivity: Wired for Xbox, 2.4G & Wired for PC, and Bluetooth for Android. The G7 Pro supports seamless connectivity across Xbox, PC, and Android. Effortlessly switch between modes using the convenient physical mode switch.
- TMR Sticks: The G7 Pro features GameSir's Mag-Res TMR sticks, combining Hall Effect durability with traditional potentiometer performance. This advanced technology delivers stable polling rates for smooth, drift-free gaming with low power consumption.
- Hall Effect Analog Triggers: The GameSir precision-tuned Hall Effect analog triggers provide unmatched smoothness and linear input for precise control. Featuring clicky Micro Switch trigger stops, gamers can easily switch based on their preferences.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
GameSir specifies a 1000 Hz polling rate for PC over wired and 2.4 GHz connections. That is a manufacturer specification scoped to PC; it should not be read as an Xbox polling-rate claim.
Sticks and triggers use different sensing technologies
TMR thumbsticks
The thumbsticks use TMR (tunneling magnetoresistance) sensing. GameSir lists a 12-bit ADC, 4096-level stick resolution, and a joystick module rated for 5 million cycles. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements or a promise of a particular real-world lifespan. TMR’s contactless sensing is intended to avoid the constant friction associated with potentiometer sticks, but no stick technology makes a controller immune to every possible fault.

- No Stick Drift TMR Joysticks: Enjoy ultra-smooth, precise control with virtually zero stick drift. Powered by advanced Mag-Res TMR technology, it combines the accuracy of traditional sticks with the durability of Hall Effect sensors for long-lasting performance.
- Official XBOX Wireless Controller: Officially licensed for XBOX Series X|S and XBOX One, featuring a stable 2.4G wireless connection with fast response and reliable performance. Supports one-press wake-up for seamless console gameplay.
- 1000Hz Ultra-Low Latency on PC: Achieve up to 1000Hz polling rate on PC via wired or 2.4G wireless for faster, more responsive gameplay. Note: 1000Hz polling rate is supported on PC only. XBOX consoles are optimized for stable and smooth performance.
- Official Zenless Zone Zero Edition: Designed in collaboration with HoYoverse, featuring exclusive artwork and a bold, game-inspired design. Perfect for fans and collectors looking to elevate their gaming setup with a unique style.
- Hall Effect Analog Triggers: One Controller With two Kinds Triggers, Seamless Switch Between Hall Effect Triggers and Micro triggers! Enjoy precise control with quick toggling for enhanced responsiveness in any game
PC Gamer’s review says the practical difference between TMR and Hall Effect sticks may be negligible for most players, though enthusiasts may value the technology. It notes that TMR can offer precision and lower power draw in theory. In other words, the specification is appealing, but it should not be mistaken for a guarantee that every player will feel a dramatic difference.
Hall Effect triggers and trigger stops
The analog triggers use Hall Effect sensing. Trigger stops let you switch to a microswitch mode for a shorter, more immediate-feeling press. That gives the controller two trigger behaviors: analog travel when you want graduated input, and a faster switch-style press when that suits the game. The thumbsticks and triggers do not use the same sensing technology.
Rank #3
- Versatile compatibility: supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S consoles and PC Win10 and above (including the game platform Steam).
- Precise control: features Hall joysticks and Hall triggers for a comfortable feeling, long service life and improved game accuracy.
- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable experience: Includes 2 custom backbuttons that allow users to eliminate false triggers and improve their gaming experience.
- Impressive gameplay: Provides a pulsating vibration trigger and an asymmetric vibration grip motor for intense tactile feedback.
Controls, comfort, and customization
The G7 Pro has an asymmetric Xbox-style layout. GameSir lists four rumble motors, a gyroscope feature, a magnetic swappable faceplate, and customization through GameSir Nexus. Windows Central describes four extra mappable controls, optical microswitch face buttons, a charging stand, a removable faceplate, and a swappable D-pad. Tom’s Guide lists two back buttons and describes the controller as ergonomic in its hands-on review.
- Potential drawback: D-pad feel. Windows Central calls it mushy, a reviewer’s assessment rather than a universal result. Players who rely on precise directional inputs should weigh that criticism against their own preferences.
- Two rear buttons. Tom’s Guide notes the limited number of back buttons. If your preferred games or play style depend on several rear inputs, this may be a more important limitation than the controller’s sensor specifications.
- Limited modularity. Tom’s Guide says the customization is limited. The swappable faceplate and D-pad add options, but they do not make the controller broadly modular.
- Listed size and weight. PC Gamer reports dimensions of 120 × 160 × 64.2 mm and a weight of 272 g. These are specifications reported by the outlet, not measurements made for this article.
Battery life, polling, and other listed specifications
Tom’s Guide lists a 12-hour wireless battery figure. Treat that as a published figure, not a runtime guarantee: actual battery life can vary with use and settings. GameSir’s listed 1000 Hz polling rate applies to PC connections, as described above; the manufacturer specification does not establish that rate for Xbox.

GameSir also lists four rumble motors, gyroscope support, and the 5-million-cycle joystick rating. Specs can help explain what the controller offers, but they do not substitute for a player’s preferred stick tension, D-pad feel, grip, or button placement.
Price and who should choose it
GameSir’s product page listed the controller at $79.99 when accessed in 2026; PC Gamer’s September 2025 review listed $80, £90, and AU$159. These are dated listings, not guaranteed current prices. Check the price, stock, and edition at the retailer before buying.
- Consider it if: you want an asymmetric controller for PC or Android, value TMR sticks and flexible trigger behavior, and are comfortable with the number and placement of its extra controls.
- Skip it if: wireless Xbox play is essential, you need more than two rear buttons, or a crisp D-pad is a priority and the reported mushiness concerns you.
For PC or Android, the G7 Pro Tri-Mode offers a notably broad feature set for its listed price. For Xbox, its wired-only connection is the deciding compromise. Review praise supports calling it a strong contender, not declaring it everyone’s new favorite.
